Rent-
...anytime someone asks you "what's the time" you respond (in song) with "well, it's gotta be close to midnight."
--I'm so glad I'm not alone

Why do we play with fire?
Why do we run our fingers through the flame?
Why do we leave our hands on the stove, although we know we're in for some pain?

...you speak to friends and family with excerpts from Broadway songs instead of actual sentences
...you nearly have a conniption when someone says "Eye-dina"
...you go to see "Spiderman 2" and burst into "If I Were a Rich Man"

Sorry, but that is one whopping, glaring mistake.

When someone says Mazeltof, you burst into songs from Fiddler on the Roof.

At age three.
I said to my Dad. Why don't we do this everyday?
I refused to leave the theatre. I wanted to see it again.
This was only the Paper Bag Players.

Scream with cheer delight when Antonique Smith comes on a Virgin cell phone comercial. "I met her! I got a picture with her! She signed my playbill!" Annnnd your boyfriend covers your mouth to prevent further flip-outs.

You know you're obsessed when:
-you can choreograph and sing all the parts of JCS when you were 3
-you say "well it's got to be close to midnight" when someone asks you for the time
-you have an urge to jump on a table and sing LVB
-you have jumped on a table and sang LVB in public
-you have a whole conversation with someone using only Broadway show lyrics
-you've been to more shows than you have movies
-you own all the dvds/vhs of every musical out there
-for any report you have to do in school on something of your choice, you pick a show or a composer
-you have performed Over the Moon in every vacant lot possible
-you have perormed Over the Moon in school, now all your teachers write in your yearbook: Moo with me (true story!!)
-Your room is covered in posters of all the shows you've been to (and all the shows you've wished you'd seen!)

When you are in difficult situations, you think of a Broadway musical that dealt with the situation, think of a song in that show, and let that guide your thoughts and actions. (especially in emotional situations....)

When your carpe diem song is "How Lucky You Are" from Seussical.
When you write out all the words to La Vie Boheme over and over again during a really boring class.
When someone says something and a showtune is immediately triggered in your head.
And then you start singing it.

Les Mis:
When you have the OBCR, the London cast recording, the Complete Symphonic Recording, the 10 year anniversary recording (+ the DVD) and even an original French concept recording (it's beautiful even though I don't understand much of it). I had seen the Broadway production well over 30 times over the years as well as every local and/our touring production that comes around. I also have a computer Les Mis game and a non-musical 2 volume VHS. Obsessed? Glad I found this thread because now I know I'm not alone.

I burst into Thoroughly Modern Millie when someone says modern.
A lot of the Les Mis and Rent ones apply to me.

No one is alone.
Someone is on your side...
Yes, obsessed....

When you have no idea who Kanye West(cringe) is or what Usher(another cringe) new song is, but know who the next up-and-coming Broadway star is.
You know the difference between a stand-by, a swing, and an understudy... and know who they are for nearly every show.
And everything everyone else said... so describes me! Haha!

What is Broadway? A street? Some say it's a street. Some say it is the best street in the world. Others think its terrible. That's the beauty of it, it's terribly beautiful. Some hate it and don't know why. Others love it and don't know why. That's what makes it so wonderful, it's a mystery.

I can't agree with you more!! I'll be at a school dance, or hanging with my friends, and I hear a song and I say "Oh, I hate this song by 50 Cent." And my friends will give me a weird look and say "Um, that would be Usher."... and then when they laugh at me I'll retort back, "Well if you're so smart, what show is closing September 12?"... and they say "who cares"...... ugh.

some people just don't understand that life really is like a musical. People really do burst out into random song and dance. I sure do.
I was at hershey park with a bunch of theater friends. The entire way there and back we listened to broadway musicals., and while we were in the park we would start danceing and singing along the street/walkway/sidewalk thing.
