Really liked this interview.

THANKS for the link, I am off to read!!!!
Okay, that was a very interesting article for Adam, I always love to hear what he has to say about his career, both in theater and as a solo artist.
Whatever impressions people have of me, I'd like to play against that. Of course I know not to go too far against it that I can't pull it off.
This quote just killed me, he has really came a long way since Rent and I am sooo happy about that!!! I am really glad that he is finally given in and really embraced musicals, I know in the beginning he was always quoted as saying he would never do traditional theater and now it seems that is what he is holding out for, and I couldn't be happier!
Also, hearing him talk about Civilian, makes me want Nov. 2nd to get here even worse than before if that is even possible!!
Thanks for that link!!
That was a really great interview. I can't wait until "Civilian" comes out. From the way he described it, it sounds really great!
I would love to see him take over the part of Fiyero. Would love to hear him sing the duet "As Long as You're Mine". But I don't think he would go for it.
Finally, a musical theater actor that doesn't sound like a complete moron in an interview. And Fiyero is one of those roles, I think he'd never take. Butz is really a poor man's Pascal...Flame away!
And so you may get to the song and the audience goes, "Oh I love this song," but it's not really going to tell you anything about the story because it wasn't written that way. I think that when you take these song catalogues and then you try and force it into a traditional musical theater form…that form is hard enough on it's own. I have to just sort of stay true to who I am and what I find interesting. Going back to Cabaret lit a fire under me to want to do more traditional things.
Exactly. That is what I've been trying to say!!! And I agree. I don't think he'd do Fiyero because it's too "of, course". But I DO think if Menzel approached him about it, he might, because he seems to have a strong personal connection with all the original renters.
And how awesome would it have been to see Adam as Seymour??? I would have never even thought about that, had he not mentioned it. ADAM! DO THE ROAD SHOW!!! lol.
Butz has been and always will be a poor man's Pascal.
that was a great interview!! i can't wait for the nj concert!!!! adam as seymour - ::sigh:: i love the version of him singing suddenly seymour from the best of broadway on bravo (ok mandy moore wasn't great but he totally made up for it!!!!)
can you see it now - anthony and adam fighting for the part!!!! lol
I like him, he seems very candid. Most proffesionals wouldn't admit half of the things he does in that interview. And I really hope he doesn't go anywhere near Wicked, it would go against everything he said he's working for.

yay haha. i spazzed when i saw that. lol. i love him so much!! *dies*
I love the fact that he has an opinion and is not afraid to share it with people. I also think it's cool that he just phones producers etc to let them know that he's interested in a part (I think he did that with Cabaret as well).
Can't see him as Seymour or Leo Bloom AT ALL but hey, couldn't see him as The Emcee either but he managed to convince me in Cabaret after all.
Great interview!

That was a wonderful interview. I really enjoyed it!
For the record, Butz is DEFNITELY the poor man's Pascal. Pft, no contest.

'Can't see him as Seymour or Leo Bloom AT ALL'
me either. his voice is too rock for that imo. you never know though!
Vocally I think he can pull off Seymour. He sounds very rock when he wants to, but he knows how to work with his voice, as well. Have you heard 'the one who got away' from MP? He keeps the tone really light in that song. Whether he can act the part, now that would be interesting to see.
What a great interview. I've always admired Adam for his honesty.
And I'm glad that he's settled more into musical theater as well. I remember how adamant he was when he first joined Rent about not doing any more musicals.
You have to love the Adam...though I also love the Butz!

I've always liked Adam, but he really comes off well in this article. He's matured a lot from his Rent days, and his head is screwed on pretty straight. And he's honest. I have no appreciation for sugarcoaters or people who are always trying to hard to sound 'right'. And I love the way he's come to appreciate musical theatre, he really was arrogant and looked down on it back in Rent.
Fiyero is a horribly underwritten part, Adam can do better. And the music is far to 'eh'. I wonder what a musical by him would sound like though... that intrigues me.
Thank god he's candid enough to say the whole Bway RNC boycott was "the dumbest f*cking thing I've ever heard of in my life." MARRY ME ADAM!
I'm surprised this hasn't been brought up yet - Who did Adam do Aida with? Curious to speculate who he liked and who he didn't. (Maya Days, anyone?)
I think Pascal is a poor man's Butz---Norber can sing and act circles around Adam. But I still like Adam anyway, and I can't wait to see what he does next!

I would like to know as well... can we continue the process-of-elimination thing? Heather is out, obviously.
I love honesty like in the article. I agree with what he said about the RNC. Tiff, you're going to have to take a number, I want to marry him!
I think Norbie's a better actor, but Adam's a better singer and has a better presence.
And is much hotter.
I don't think it's Schele. I think people didn't really like Simone, right?
But you know, it seems like Heather changed between her time on Aida and post-Aida career.
Didn't Sherie Rene say something in a recent-ish interview about Heather suddenly turning very cold to her with no explanation? (However, is it just my imagination or did Heather and Adam just do a collaboration together in concert? Really, my memory is fading.)
TypeATiff--you took the words right outta my post!
I think there were many Diva problems with Heather in the original Aida. It always seemed that Sherie Rene Scott had a little bit of a thing with it..
I would give an arm to know what happened between those two. (This, to me, is juicier than another Idina vs. Kristin thread!)
Let me find the link to the Sherie interview. I think it was on broadway.com.
Here it is (and the excerpt):
From Tom in Chicago:
Did you ever become close with your Aida co-star Heather Hadley? Does it bother you that she now refers to her Broadway career as a "pleasant detour."
Sherie responds:
Hi Tom, I love Chicago. Really. The honest answer to your question is that I thought Heather and I were very close. Our friendship was a source of much laughter and happiness. For some inexplicable reason that stopped. That was a source of much confusion and sadness for me. If she did actually refer to her time on Broadway in that way, I'm glad she deemed it pleasant.
Sherie interview
I always loved Sherie more then Heather...I'm so on her side!

Heather was a diva? Was Sherie Renee diva-ish too, or did she not like Heather's attitude? Can you try to remember that article, Tiff? Is it online?
