I respect your opinion of this show but not the manner in which you attacked another member. Choosing to avoid the main point of my reply says more than if you HAD responded.
I saw it this passed weekend and I loved everything about it. Peter Gallagher was very weak, but other than that Kristen Chenoweth, Mary Louise Wilson, Mark Linn-Baker, Michael McGrath, and Andy Karl were great. I loved the sets, costumes, score, and dancing. It is definitely worth seeing.
I'm sorry After Eight, I had no idea that this thread was for your 'personal dispute' between yourself and D2. I would certainly not have 'butted in' had I known; maybe you need your own website?
Kristin Chenoweth just tweeted that Andy Karl has caught the same bug as Mr. Gallagher. She tweeted "the understudy are ready" Perhaps Andy's understudy is on tonight?
Watch out Cheno don't be next...the show needs you! Too bad Victor Garber or Mark Kudisch were not available for Oscar...Imagine Marc Cheno's ex and the on stage drama would make the show even betta Would luv to see Andy Karl switch roles and play Oscar now that would be fun chemistry!

Kristin played opposite Marc in Apple Tree and I never heard of any (backstage) drama then I can't wait to see this show and see how I like Peter. In the years we've been waiting for this show to finally happen I always dream-cast Douglas Sills.
^ agree with Douglas Sills and I used drama in the sense that the chemistry between Cheno & Marc would be great pairing on stage...better then Gallagher. Yes, they no longer have past relationship issues!

Marc and Kristin had crazy chemistry during Forbidden Fruit. Anyway, I hope everyone feels better soon. Maybe the rash of illnesses will calm down when the weather warms up.
One does wonder: in the depths of winter, when flu and colds are raging, wouldn't it have been wise(r) to anticipate just such an occurrence? Why were they so blindsided? Also, couldn't they posit that a 60-year-old-leading man who hasn't sung on Broadway in a decade or more -- not known for his singing -- might run into vocal problems in a role that taxed a better singer (John Cullumn)? Even if Gallagher has a bug, his voice might've just given out, as was first opined. I don't get the how-could-this-happen panic and lack of planning, as if a show previewing in the dead of the most illness-prone season suddenly can't fathom the possibility of star absence. And Mr. Gallagher, bless him, is not Mr. Jackman. People would gladly stay to see his understudy opposite Ms. Chenoweth (were there returns Sunday? The Gallagher Fan Club of White Plains?)

The understudies being rehearsed is just normal. It's tough to rehearse understudies in rehearsals because they're still figuring out blocking, traffic, etc. Even during previews nothing is "set" just yet, so what would they rehearse? I'm sure they've all gone over their music and have heard it countless times by now, but that's different than just getting up there and doing it.
I'm seeing the show in a little over a week, and if Gallagher is out, then so be it. It's not going to ruin the experience for me. I'm really there to see Chenoweth, anyways.
