Truthfully, I'm past caring.
RENT! Live: "You don't understand! I could'a had class. I could'a been a contender. I could've been somebody, instead of a bum, which is what I am, let's face it."
Good night kids.

I know this is the most obvious statement of the day, but nobody will ever beat Adam and Anthony's What You Own. Also, WTH is this staging??
Hate live audiences. The Sound of Music and The Wiz were perfect. Jesus Christ Superstar was ok because their sound was great.
Outside of a few highlights, this was rather bad. And the fact they are doing the show "Live", but just not airing it makes it worse. The sound is bad, three of the leads are bad, the camera angles are interesting. The highlights are Mark, Roger, Maureen & the ensemble. And the set.

By the love - love the set! Very cool. Ensemble is great. Mark, Roger, and Tom Collins all doing well. We'll see how Maureen does,"
Jesus Christ Superstar had understudies. Sara's was an 18yr old straight out of high school.

Jordan, Mimi (whose name I still cant remember) and BVD made this a really great section IMO

My favorite part of this broadcast so far was the teaser trailer for Fosse/Verdon.

I don't know when they changed it on Broadway but that was a change they made for the 1st national tour. Although Hicksville is a real place, there was a concern that audiences would feel insulted, since "hick" is a real word and they might think that Mark is calling people who don't live in New York "hicks."

yea what's with the audience over cheering ~ screeching so over enthusiastic through out non stop...are they really enjoying that much? LOL NOT!
They have no idea what they are doing. I get that him in a wheelchair could not have happened. But, everyone else was ready, and everyone was looking forward to seeing a LIVE show. That is where the understudy could have helped out instead of having an injury derail the entire show.

Here in NY we have been getting commercials for Broadway musicals all night so I have been enjoying those too
When did he break his foot? When did they do this final dress run? Did he hurt himself after the run? Something's not lining up here.

These 5 minutes live are already better than the rest of the broadcast
He apparently broke his foot off stage during the final “commercial break” during the dress rehearsal. There was about a half hour delay in the rehearsal then before Hunt returned to the stage where he sat for the reminder of the filmed dress rehearsal.

He broke it at the final dress rehearsal last night right before they brought Mimi up for Your Eyes.

I guess the only reason they are showing this part live is because he broke his foot before this part could be filmed. I agree it is better than the filmed part. Not as good as the original performers but that is to be expected. The original people were great.

Idina in her 30 seconds made everyone else from the previous two and half hours sound inconsequential.
Updated On: 1/27/19 at 11:00 PMI will say that after the travesty of most of the first hour, it improved. But the final live segment hinted at how great the whole thing might have been.

The actress from the Greatest Showman did a good job but I agree Idina and seeing the original cast sing made the night.
The last 15 minutes were the only thing that mattered. Wonderful performances and such a thrill to see the Original Cast. We finally saw Rent Live, if only for a short period of time.
