So every singer who looks good with his shirt off will be auditioning for Sam in GHOST?
Let's see; Tveit, Cavanaugh, Jackson, Pasquale, Von Essen, etc.
What is Sam's vocal range?
Does he have to act? Cause that would eliminate a few of them.

I actually wonder if the tepid critical response to his performance in Catch Me, plus that show's overall flopping, won't hurt him a little bit. Would a producer want him to lead a brand new show again until he's proved himself more?

In my opinion, he's not at the point of his career where he would turn down a high-profile replacement role.

Aaron will be the new director of either New Directions or Vocal Adrenaline on Glee. Or maybe just another love interest for Lea Michele or Heather Morris. Or join the cast of Smash!

Michael Lucas DVDS.

"Michael Lucas DVDS."

With song and erotic dance. I could see him doing well in that.

I was actually thinking of Ghost for Aaron - better him than the guy currently doing it.

I think Aaron Tveit is an extremely solid, multi-talented young leading man, make no mistake.

That said, I also feel that he lacks a certain warmth.

The difference between him and Rannels in Book of Mormon is that I totally believed everything that innocent character, Elder Price, did and said in Mormon as he was presented by Rannels. I also felt that Tveit was just as deceptive as his role in Catch Me, and when he was required to express some depth he was out of his element and couldn't do it.

I agree in a way- I don't know if Aaron has the earnest-ness or the comedic chops of Rannells... I think Aaron is primarily a great singer... I thought he was really haunting in next to normal, but in Catch Me, I wasn't that affected by his acting. I agree; I can see him giving LA a go...

Even though I have little desire to see Ghost, I could see him in this.

Maybe playing dead guys is his forte?

Edited: because my brain flipped Ghost with Dirty Dancing.

I just think he lacks a certain "special" quality about him. I don't think he's terrible, and he has a killer voice, but his acting is just a little "eh." I remember seeing him in Next to Normal and when he said the line "Hey Dad" (or whatever he says after the reprise) he just used it as a throwaway line and mumbled it, when in actuality, its a pretty important line.

Are you kidding me? His "Hi Dad" line killed me ever time I saw it in the show and each time I listen to the recording. It's heartbreaking.

Well he mumbled it and threw it away every time I saw it. He seemed bored with it.

Tveit was definitely bored and marking when I saw him later into his run in next to normal (this was about two months before he left). Hard to believe that it was the same actor who showed so much energy during the Second Stage run. I was very surprised how anemic his performance was.

I saw him recently in Catch Me If You Can and while I liked neither the show nor the role, he had charisma to burn. Perhaps now that he has a leading role tailored around him he's not so bored.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

As much as I love Aaron Tveit, NO ONE can replace Andrew Rannells as Elder Price. I feel sorry for Andrew's replacement.

Well, I don't think that's true. And if it IS, its certainly a sign that the show really isn't that good.

While I think Rannells is wonderful, I'm sure there are plenty of other actors that will do well with the role.

Mmmm. Rannells' understudy has already had positive reviews on this forum. It will be funny reading that post in 5 years time when he has probably been replaced 6+ times, lol.

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
