I wonder what he'll do next in his career- he seems to always stay busy! Does anyone else ever imagine him as Elder Price in BOOK OF MORMON? I can really hear him in the role and sometimes wondered if he'd have been as well-received in Rannells in the role. Considering Rannells will probably be leaving after his contract end early next year (someone on here said he has some great TV prospects), wouldn't Aaron be a great replacement? Not sure if he'd do it... but it came to mind. What would other people like to see him in next?
I'd love to see him in Candide as the title character. I think he would be great in it. That is, if they revive CANDIDE.
I doubt Tveit would be a replacement for anyone at this point in his career, much less a replacement in the show that trounced his this season.
^ I agree with Adamgreer. I don't think Tveit will have a problem finding new roles to originate.
Tveit hasn't had a problem getting work in film and television. NEXT TO NORMAL and CATCH ME IF YOU CAN were projects he'd been attached to for a while, but I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he's headed right out to LA to try his luck there now.
He'll work quite steadily.
I think he will end up playing elder price eventually. He also might make for an interesting finch in H2$
He was great in HOWL.
All he had to do was get jiggy with James Franco,
not a bad gig.
I'd love to see him as Finch.
I agree he'd be great in any of the part already mentioned (BOM, H2S & Candide).
I also agree he's not likely to be a replacement.
That being said, I wouldn't be suprised at all if he heads to LA for awhile after this.
Well, he IS an actor, and needs work. I can't imagine him turning down the lead in a hit show, even if it is as a replacement.
Lots of actors won't be replacements after a certain point in their careers. When's the last time Norbert was a replacement? Or Sutton? Or Gavin Creel? Or.....the list goes on and on. If he's interested in a tv/film career, he's going to have to leave b'way -- at least for a little while. If that's his plan, I would suspect he's been saving money.
I don't pretend to know what his plans are or what he "wants" but I do know he's got to think about more than just his next paycheck.
"When's the last time Norbert was a replacement?"
2009 in Speed-the-Plow.
"Or Gavin Creel?"
Mary Poppins
I didn't really consider Norbert's stint as a replacement, because didn't he step in as a favor in an 'emergency' situation? And for only a few weeks?
Wasn't Gavin's stint in Poppins in London....and more than five years ago?
I didn't mean to say that it NEVER happens, but for many leads there is a time when they stop accepting replacements iff they can.
I can definitely see him being wonderful in BoM or H2S, but I agree that it seems more likely that he will head to LA. I hope he stays in NY though! Maybe he'll attach himself to a new project none of us have heard of. It would be super helpful of him to have a Twitter right about now. Damn you, Aaron.
Other replacers "after a certain point in their careers" include Faith Prince, Marin Mazzie, Whoopi Goldberg, Bernadette Peters, Tom Wopat, Brooke Shields, Harvey Fierstein, Mary Martin, Ethel Merman, Ginger Rogers, Diahann Carroll, Reba McIntyre, Dorothy Loudon, Betty Buckley, Donna McKechnie, Ann Reinking, William Daniels, Shirley Jones, Betty Hutton, Joanne Worley, Andrea McArdle, Sarah Jessica Parker (H2$), Ben Vereen, Ana Gasteyer, George Hearn, Joey McIntyre, Miriam Margolyes, Carol Kane, etc.
He has said that while he does enjoy doing TV and movies, theatre is his favorite.
I could see him as Elder Price, but I think that if he does end up replacing somebody, it'll be Darren Criss in H2$. I have a feeling that once Criss leaves, interest in the show will drop and they'll need something/somebody to make people buy tickets
I'm not sure if Aaron has proven that he's guaranteed to sell tix....or he wouldn't be out of a job in a few weeks. I think the producers will be looking for a 'real' name -- not a b'way name.
Time will tell.
Ghost is possibly coming in the Spring. I could see him playing Sam.
Ghost is possibly coming in the Spring. I could see him playing Sam.
That's the most logical suggestion I've seen thus far in this thread.
Wouldn't surprise me, either. Although I have a feeling he might be headed to LA, at least for a bit.
I don't think his name can quite sell a show alone yet. I appreciate his dedication to the stage and the fact that he takes his attendance seriously, however I just feel like he is two dimensional and boring to watch. I'd love to see Richard Fleeshman follow Ghost to New York, if Equity allowed it.
My opinion aside, I think it'd be smart for Tveit to try his luck on film or television and return to Broadway. That seems to be the one of the only ways that Broadway names are selling out shows these days.
The only person coming to New York with GHOST is Sharon Clarke. It's not an Equity thing; the producers want the roles re-cast.
