This isn't technically correct, since it was off-Broadway... but Bat Boy. It never got the chance to shine...

HELLO, DOLLY! A good revival just might make us forget who's in the White House these days.

Hair!!

Dreamgirls

And I'm a total freak but I wish Chess would come back around. It wasn't sucessful enough for a revival but I like the music, and would like to see it. re: What revival are we ready for?

Liam, you'll probably get your wish- THE PAJAMA GAME is a big rumour going around - I don't think any casting has been done though, but I heard next season. I would love to see it, too.

Anyone Can Whistle shouldn't be revived until someone goes in and fixes up the book.

Which, if it happens at all, won't happen until Mr. Laurents passes away.

If they bring back Pajama they better cast Brent Barrett.

Well I said that hoping that with a new incarnation, the whole book would be re-written. Laurents is so great, why does that one suck?

Eeks on things like Annie and The Music Man -- they had recent revivals (and were those really necessary?)

I'd like to see Sweeney Todd and Pippin revived. Maybe even Bye Bye Birdie. Certainly I'd love to see The Apple Tree get a revival (maybe after the Encores staging later this season). Sunday In The Park With George (Wasnt there initially talk to bring the Raul Esparza/Melissa Errico production to Broadway?)...And Dreamgirls AND The Wiz...

I'd love to see Jerry Mitchell and Jack O'Brian to revive Pajama Game, with maybe some script tweaking. Also i'd LOVE to see Nicholas Hynter rework Camelot...which would involve quite a bit of script tweaking, but I would totally love to see what he comes up with staging-wise. He did wonders to Carousel, I think Camelot would suit him perfectly.

I'd be happy to see almost anything revived on Broadway, as long as Jerry Zaks stays far, far, FAR away.

I think Evita deserves a shot. Its been about 21 and a half years since it closed, and there is already a wonderful cast on tour. Although, I don't see it opening anytime soon, as I don't think ALW would open two of his shows within a year (would he???)

Just curious - what don't you all like about Anyone Can Whistle's book? I think it's just about as freewheeling as the score is, though it's definitely a product of the 1960s. Still, it's pretty outlandish and fun. I just think the show as a whole might be too crazy to ever be a popular success.

As for me, I think it's just about time for the revised Merrily We Roll Along to get a major Broadway production. The revised version is as satisfying as shows that have been hits. It's about time for critics to give up the ghost on the argument that the show doesn't work...because it DOES.

Z-A-N-N-A-!
ZANNA ZANNA ZANNA ZANNA!

And the other thing about the Phantom Lady was, Bert, she realized, in the city that never sleeps... What did she realize, Kitten? That all the songs she'd listened to, all the love songs, that they were only songs. What's wrong with that? Nothing, if you don't believe in them. But she did, you see. She believed in enchanted evenings, and she believed that a small cloud passed overhead and cried down on a flower bed, and she even believed there was breakfast to be had... Where? On Pluto. The mysterious, icy wastes of Pluto.
