That's not Mandy Gonzalez. It's Lexi Lawson, who played Vanessa in the touring company of IN THE HEIGHTS and Mimi in the 2009 tour of RENT with Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
If Uzo Aduba and Rebecca Naomi Jones don't play Angelica then there is no god.
You're reminding me of people you hear at the movies asking questions every ten seconds, "Who is that? Why is that guy walking down the street? Who's that lady coming up to him? Uh-oh, why did that car go by? Why is it so dark in this theater?" - FindingNamo on strummergirl
"If artists were machines, then I'm just a different kind of machine...I'd probably be a toaster. Actually, I'd be a toaster oven because they're more versatile. And I like making grilled cheese" -Regina Spektor
"That's, like, twelve shows! ...Or seven." -Crazy SA Fangirl
"They say that just being relaxed is the most important thing [in acting]. I take that to another level, I think kinda like yawning and...like being partially asleep onstage is also good, but whatever." - Sherie Rene Scott
Just looked Lexi up, she has a great voice and looks the part so I'm happy if this is true (as long as she is a convincing actress too of course). I think Mandy Gonzalez is too old for Eliza unfortunately. What Phillipa does so well is convey the youthful enthusiasm in the first act and then slowly matures.
He's almost certainly already cast and observing the show, whoever he is. Actually at this point they need to hire TWO new Hamiltons, presuming Javier is continuing the practice of a once-a-week alternate.

Really? That's surprising. I mean, it's her prerogative to make her own career choices, but it seems like she hasn't quite reached the point in her career where she can afford to pick and choose like that. Still, I suppose if she really hates replacing that much, and she's managing to pay her rent without those jobs, then more power to her (no snark intended)

Huh? I know she replaced Yitzhak. What else has she done? Was she ever in RENT? Originating a role is an amazing opportunity for an actor and she's done some really cool shows (American Idiot, Murder Ballad, and my fav Passing Strange), but being a replacement can't be that bad if the gigs are Hamilton and Hedwig with John Cameron Fcking Mitchel.
???

Which is exactly why she went back. I don't know her personally, but I remember her talking about it during a Hedwig interview.
Am I wrong in assuming that final casting announcements will be made in the next week regarding who will be staying and who will be replacing the exiting actors?
I think it was stated in an article somewhere, that everyone else is staying....but length of extentions are unknown....and likely vary. Yes, I would expect to hear about the new Eliza and Burr any day now.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
I would love to see Adrienne Warren as either Angelica or Peggy/Mariah. Shuffle Along is closing after all and she was so cute singing along to the closing number of the Tony's. Since she was in Bring It On, I bet her name has been tossed around for at least one of the productions.
Wonder if Austin Smith will be taking over as Burr. He tweeted that he was leaving for a vacation today. Maybe to rest up?
Rebecca played Eliza in one of the workshops, so she has a relationship with this team already.
And yeah, in theory they should be hiring two new Hamiltons. Though since Playbill Vault is barely ever updated anymore, it may take awhile for the news to get out.
RNJ or Adrienne as Angelica would be amazing. I bet there will be lots of Shuffle actors joining the Hamilton cast. Hamilton needs lots of new talent not just principals to keep that thing going, so we will probably see a lot of the Shuffle cast move over to Hamilton.

I would hope that the cast of Shuffle Along have more options for future employment than the "other" show with non-white actors and that their skills could be put to good use across all industry.
^^^ That would be great! I haven't seen Shuffle Along yet, but from what I've heard, the cast is amazing. It would make me happy to see some of them move to Hamilton.
