This gets discussed every week on here. Block will never headline a revival of Dolly.

ps: It has technically been revived three times.

Did anyone see Victoria Clark do it regionally? I think she would be a beautiful fit.

I am not a huge fan or hers but I think Faith Prince would be
extremely fun as Dolly

I believe I'd say, "No, thanks."

Or, more accurately, "No, thanks, unless I get a free ticket, and have nothing better to do that evening."

Lea Michele could simultaneously play Elphaba, Dolly and Fanny Brice right?

I would love to see Faith Prince as Dolly, but with three revivals already, it doesn't have to be on the top of the list.

I didn't, but I do think she'd be a great fit.

I'd say bring it on. Would love to see Carol Channing in it (again), maybe Christopher Plummer as Horace Vandergelder....

I agree that Victoria Clark is very over rated. Faith Prince is a tad too old but could be fun. Dolly is not intended to be as old as most of the actresses who have played her on Broadway. And if they do revive the show, they need to make the same musical edits as the film and ax some real crappy numbers and please, please, please, a Dolly who can actually sing! The role is written for a belter, not someone barking out the lyrics.

You have to wait till Carol Channing is dead or she would be climbing up on that stage nightly no matter who was actually supposed to play the role.

I'll use this opportunity to recycle some of my favorite audition suggestions:

Dolly - Reba McEntire
Horace - Boyd Gaines
Irene - Anne Hathaway
Cornelius - Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Oops...got my Jerry Herman shows mixed up. Well, Gaines would be terrific as Beau in mame or Horace in Dolly.

What is the deal with people and Stephanie Block? Is it that she's really chatty and friendly at the stage door? Besides not having any marquee value (essential to a commercial run of Dolly!), she can't act her way out of a paper bag.

Did anyone get to see Rachel York as Dolly? I heard good things about her and would love to see her in the role.
