Christine Ebersole in Grey Gardens Karen Olivo in West Side Story
I have a million runner-ups but I'm throwing Beth Leavel in Drowsy Chaperone into the mix because she hasn't gotten a mention yet. Great to see the love for Langella in Match, though!
My wife (I just mentioned this thread to her) said, interestingly, that one of her very favorites was Joseph Anthony Foronda as the Engineer in a touring cast of Miss Saigon (later he was a replacement on Broadway). He was also in the OBC of Pacific Overtures, apparently, but I certainly don't know much about him. Does anybody else remember him in Miss Saigon? Updated On: 1/31/11 at 08:55 PM
Brian D'Arcy James absolutely killed me in Time Stands Still. Meghann Fahy in next to normal. Mary Martin in (the film version of) Peter Pan. Jerry Lewis in Damn Yankees. (my first Broadway show...how could I not?!) Marin Mazzie in next to normal.
Norbert Leo Butz in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Christine Ebersole in Grey Gardens Julie White in The Little Dog Laughed Amy Morton in August: Osage County Geoffrey Rush in Exit the King
I'm going to cheat a bit because the thread asks only for your favorite performance, not favorite that you've actually seen live, so here are some of mine:
Patti LuPone in Evita Betty Buckley in The Mystery of Edwin Drood Alexis Smith in Follies Elaine Stritch in Company Bernadette Peters in Sunday in the Park with George
Swoosie Kurtz, John Mahoney and Christine Baranski in The House of Blue Leaves
Faith Prince in Falsettoland (ok, so that was off-Broadway)
Judi Dench in Amy's View
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.
It's a tie between Patti in Gypsy and Alice in Next to Normal!
