I gather from word of mouth and the web site, that the last 20 minutes of Rocky will have orchestra center rows A - F moving to bleachers on stage. This is to accommodate the boxing ring that I suspect projects past the proscenium and over these seats. My question for anyone in the know is...

What about side orchestra rows A - F. Are these seats reconfigured to face the ring? Or, are they just still facing forward with those audience members - except those on the aisle - out of luck? Or, other? Anyone in the know?

I believe only the center orchestra is considered part of the "Golden Circle", so the side orchestra does not move.

So, that brings me to my question... What is the view from the front side orchestra during the final 20 minutes? Are these seats just partial view?

In the video, the side seats look like they are facing into the ring at that point? You will be looking up higher than you have for the rest of the show, but doesn't seem partial.

Ha I'm scared. I just bought my seats for one of the final previews in the "Golden Circle" not really knowing what that was. I (and all my winter padding) don't want to leave my seat!

From ROCKY's website:

GOLDEN CIRCLE SEATING: Guests in Center Orchestra rows A-F will be escorted onto the stage to watch the climactic fight during the final 20 minutes of the performance. After ascending a small set of stairs, you will join this exclusive audience experience on bleacher-style seats. In order to be this close to the action, the show provides a free coat check, as you will only be able to take a small handbag or coat and will not be able to return to your original seats after the show ends.

Then don't sit there?! Seems like an easy fix...

I'm doing Golden Circle in mid-March and am looking forward to it!

Do the side front orchestra swivel? I am still not seeing where the actual boxing ring is during the last 20 minutes. Does the ring actually overhang the apron, just as it rotates, or not at all. Does this make sitting in the middle orchestra (non-moving section) have to endure a very elevated ring making the last 20 minutes difficult to see? I think I'm going to have to wait until it starts performances here before I can get my questions fully answered.

Or just buy front row mezzanine or golden circle and know you're covered. That's why I did GC...

I doubt they will make it that difficult for everyone to see, though. That would make for a pretty lousy effect if everyone with a good seat couldn't see the end well...

Oh, I thought it like floated out. That sounds super annoying. You pay all that money then have to get up and move seats? And how's that going to be for the audience watching it happen? Seems kind of weird.

I've seen the show here in Germany and although its sounds kind of weird the whole changing process works flawless and the audience loves to take their seats on the stage for the final fight. For those people on the seats around the ring they surely need to stand up to watch the fight but thats part of the show to have a "real" boxing atmosphere. I liked it very much although the show in all has its flaws.
Sidenote: As far as I've heard from a friend who is playing in the German production, the show on Broadway won't be the same due to some technical restrictions of the Broadway theatre. Seems that the Broadway production will be a bit simplier regarding the set-design.

Interesting. And, this makes sense. I couldn't imagine how the seats on the sides of the ring would work during the final boxing scene. The audience is asked to stand. Uncomfortable and a nightmare for short people, but... all for the theater and the theatricality of transforming the theater into a boxing arena for the climax of the performance.

Curious as to what the changes in set design might be. The Wintergarden is unique in that the mezzanine is shallow and set way back allowing for a great view in front of the stage apron. (Originally, the Wintergarden had a runway.) I am sure the ring can move in front of the stage and still be visible upstairs.

Has anyone sat in the partial view seats in the mezzanine? It's quite a price difference, so I was wondering if it is worth it?? Thanks!

I sat Golden Circle third preview. The orchestra side seats, do not swivel, most people on one side stood when the ring came out into the audience. I would not recommend the orchestra sides I would get front mezz, if I were seeing it again.

Since I posted the question regarding the front side orchestra, I have been to see Rocky. I was very fortunate and sat orchestra center row J, 3 rows behind the Golden Circle. They were without a doubt the best seats in the house. I was dead center and close. For most of the show I sat ninth row (I think it was the ninth row) center and for the final sequence I was third row center. I was far enough back from the extended ring so that I could still see the entire sequence. (The ring is a little high up when it is out over the front orchestra.) I will say that the screens directly above the ring were in perfect view, but I did have to look almost directly up.

The front mezzanine, would be slightly more comfortable for the overhead monitors during the last 20 minutes, but the proximity to the entire show made up having to look overhead.

For those who can afford the best seats, I would suggest orchestra center rows J - M. Again, front mezzanine would be great, too, but quite a bit further back.

i got lotto loser seats when i went on wednesday; was seated front row left orchestra, center aisle BB 1 and 3. For the final sequence, as people have stated, the center rows moved on stage. I was left sitting in my seat and the ring was so high that if we sat, we would miss the whole thing..however, to my surprise, the actor playing rocky's coach made eye contact with me before the fight and said "your seats suck! stand up!!" and i looked at him and smiled like "huh"...he said "STAND UP!" and raised his arms. so, me and the first few rows of the left orchestra stood up to watch and it was so much fun! people were cheering for rocky and although the ring was high up, we still were able to see a majority of the fight. hard to see the giant jumbotron though

Yeah, I love that aspect of it. When I saw it the entire orchestra stood up and it was like we were all at a boxing match. Honestly, one of the most thrilling things I've ever seen in my years of going to the theater.

Does anyone on here know about the leg Room in the Mezzanine? Particularly the front Row? Looking at seats for 2 of us--both over 6ft tall. I have never been in the Mezz there and have had problems in the Mezz of other Theatres before (eg. Music Box-Imperial)

Thanks in Advance!!

Sat in the middle of row M in the orchestra. Way better than the gold circle. You could almost touch the ring.

I am 6' 3" and sat in the last row of the mezzanine. I was fine. I would definitely sit in the mezzanine for this.

Seconding that you'll be just fine in the Mezz. I took my family to see the show, and my father and brother come in at 6'1" and 6'3" respectively. It's always a bit of a juggling act for me to get seats they'll be comfortable in, but they had plenty of space. Front row of the Mezz had even *more*. You'll be fine!

I sat in A2 in the side orchestra last night, and I think it was a great seat. Apollo Creed's manager told us to stand up to watch the fight, which we did. As previously stated, you miss seeing the jumbotron easily, but my eyes were fixed on the boxers two feet away from me. I also got to see the stagehands up close setting up the ring, which I found intriguing as we'll.
