What a shame. She's one of, if not the best part of the show nowadays. Gives the performance of a lifetime. Can't wait to see what she does next and who will replace her!
Loved her in the show, but any time I've seen it (including early previews) she never really could hit the big notes in her song. I hope she takes some well deserved vacation prior to any other project.

Ooooh! Yes please! Didn’t see serve as a vacation swing last summer??

I hope one of the Dreamcasts come back to fill in her spot. I haven't been to Hansen since mid last year, is the replacement cast anything to rave about?
Anyway, I hope they just ask Carolee (yea yea I know she won't do it with Gypsy coming up), that's my true dreamcast. If there ever is a movie version, I sure to god hope that Sutton Foster gets to play Heidi.

I'm a little surprised she's leaving, she stayed with Pippin throughout the entire run of the show, so I imagined she'd stay a little longer, given she won a Tony for this role. Well, she's a great actress (and, as someone said, gave a beautiful performance in Pippin as well), and I hope we see her back on Broadway soon.
I'd also love for Lisa Brescia to take the role. Another great actress who hasn't been seen on Broadway for years now!
I saw RBJ in Pippin. She was awesome. Sadly, when I saw DEH in November I got to see Ben, but RBJ was out on one of her gigs on the theater cruises. Her replacement (can’t recall her name right now) was excellent though. I would have loved to see DEH again with her, but didn’t end up seeing it on my trip last week. Still hopeful to see it again if I return in November.
I would imagine the reason she is not staying with the show until the end as she did with Pippin, is because this show will run for a very very very very long time and Pippin had a respectable run but it did not run for a very very long time. I believe she has been with DEH since it was off-Broadway so she’s devoted a good amount of time to the show. I imagine she is ready for well-deserved rest and then to move on to other projects. It sounds like she already has some TV and movie work in the works. But I’m hopeful we’ll see her again on a NYC stage in the not so distant future.
Isn’t Lisa Brescia a college professor somewhere now? I don’t think she’s available for long commitments, which would explain why she just briefly filled in last summer.
