This is NOT meant to start a debate. I would never wish a closing on a show (it's beyond inappropriate and wrong) but I do wonder how much longer Tootsie has. Do we think they'll announce a September closing? Looking at the sales for tonight, it's surprising to me that they haven't said anything yet. I know people may buy tickets closer to show time (through lottery, TKTS, etc) but...I'm a little confused.
i’m guessing september, maybe october if they can get away with it but i wouldn’t really get hopes up. i’m seeing lots of videos of empty seats at the theater, the ticketmaster map shows a very empty mezzanine, and grosses are performing at half of the potential.
i’m more surprised that they haven’t already posted closure, but i guess if producers keep throwing money at it...

Isn't that the only outcome of people sharing differing opinions on something no one has the answer to?"
Also, OP is constantly bashing people for wishing a show would close, then begins a new thread asking when people think it will close. Like, I thought you didn't want to discuss these things? Just opening up a can of worms here.

Wow I didn’t realize I wasn’t allowed to ask this. My bad. 🙄 I also haven’t done that for a while so let it go.

This entire post is speculating a closing date. You specially mention September.
I get it now...when the OP wants to discuss a possible closing its ok, but not for anyone else.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Sure seems to be the case."
Oh get over yourselves. It’s not a big deal. I didn’t wish any ill will or say anything negative about the production, or cast, I just was saying this based on what I saw today on Ticketmaster. When you all want to say bad things about productions it’s okay,, but I can’t say something based on one thing? ....You sure think highly of yourselves.
I don't think Tootsie has had any week where they haven't covered their weekly expenses so I don't think anyone should be surprised it's still open. I'd be surprised if they closed before January, although i have no idea what their advance is.

Like most threads that go off the rails, it is usually prompted by execution. Like, if you had posted this in the Weekly Grosses thread, no one would have blinked. But to start a new thread about an ongoing discussion, to highlight a data point that is in line with previous discussion, it is always going to bring additional scrutiny. But anytime message board hygiene is mentioned, it is just dismissed, until the next time it is brought up, and then dismissed, and on and on...
Also, OP has made an effort in many other threads to shame anyone who has wished a Tootsie closing. Which I agree, its awful to wish a closing on a show. Which is also not what OP is doing. However OP, when you constantly shame people for specualting/bashing on a show potentially closing then don't start a thread speculating its closing. Its hypocritical.
I get it now...when the OP wants to discuss a possible closing its ok, but not for anyone else.
Right? Tootsie is doing fine (look at the numbers for all the garbage shows that just closed), Tootsie has performed better than them (obviously), so no, it's not closing in September. Oh, the only people who say things like they would never wish a show to close absolutely do want that exact thing. Let Tootsie do its thing, it's very popular an hour and less before show time, for people wanting to a see a show last minute. Do your research and stop starting threads like this.

Are you looking at the same graph because it's been doing just as bad (looking at their potential growth) as the other bottom shows since the beginning of July. The show has also been on a spiral at the same time as many shows peak for the summer. I think Tootsie might squeeze out till September, but it cannot sustain itself past January from the looks of it.

Tootsie has consistently grossed more than Be More Chill, Pretty Woman and The Cher Show. I think that's what EllieRose2 was referring to. Aside from their first week of previews, which was only two performances, they have turned a (usually small) profit each week they've been open.
When I won the lotto there were A LOT of winners which means they didn’t sell many seats. I would say October because it’s a little late to announce a September closing. But I want it too last. The audience and my dad and I had a lot of fun during that show.

A sample size of one has a fairly large margin of error. And a larger theater is almost always going to have more discounts, more lottery winners etc because they have more seats to sell.
i have nothing against the show, although i understand the opinions of it being completely tone deaf to todays trans. i would have even possibly seen it were it not for every human i know telling me its not worth the time. guesstimating its future, id say at best it keeps up its already terrible numbers thru the fall. literally they can't possibly expect more than that.
