Up next is the World Premiere musical based on the beloved 1980s romantic comedy that helped launch the career of Julia Roberts — Mystic Pizza The Musical. It’s a Summer of friendship, love, and dreams for three friends looking to discover life beyond school and the confines of their quaint New England resort town. This new musical, loaded with memorable hits of the ‘80s and ‘90s, is a Summer dance party only Ogunquit Playhouse can deliver!

There are several movies that I've thought would make excellent musicals. I've had this in my top 3 and I really hope to be able to see this whenever it premieres!
I only hope the legendary "Make a Pizza" will be part of the score

So it’s no longer an original score? That’s disappointing.

I feel like this could end up like Dave The Musical. Gets a regional production out of town, underwhelms, nothing happens thereafter.

How will this affect the Rural Juror musical?

Or they have several out-of-town try-outs which the show changes frequently and never lands on Broadway.

This show is an OOF. But worse things have come to Broadway (pretty woman)
The Engeman Theater production of Mystic Pizza—A New Musical plays the Northport, New York, venue beginning September 15.
Based on the 1988 movie starring Julia Roberts, Mystic Pizza follows three waitresses living in the harbor town of Mystic, Connecticut, utilizing the pop songs of the 1980's and 1990's that fill their world, including music by Cyndi Lauper, Wilson Phillips, and Berlin. Performances continue through October 30.

I remember hearing this was eyeing Broadway (like everything else, i guess). Is the maybe the out of town tryout before it comes over?
I don't think Engeman is known for pre-Broadway shows. But hey anything is possible. I'd imagine it would just tour or go the regional route.

I hope so because this is one of my favorite movies and I'd love to see the stage adaptation in New York!
