Which show do you think is the hardest to do for a chorus?

MUSIC MAN?

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."
--Aristotle

42nd Street looks tough for non-pro, or even pro, dancers.

It's funny how many high schools do those two shows. I would say Aida.

All the Rent chorus members have multiple supporting roles and there are a few tough solos. (Seasons of Love)

"Swing!"

If anyone remembers that Broadway show. Just non-stop swing dancing, ensemble members getting hurled across the stage....at one point, they bring out the bunjee cords....

Oklahoma was the first show I ever did, and I didn't really find it that difficult. I agree with Sweeney Todd, though.

Ragtime's chorus is a HUGE part of the plot. They backup the main characters through their harmonizing and characterization. When I was in the chorus of "Ragtime", the director made it so that every single chorus member had a chance to do something, small or big. This is one of those shows that require a large chorus with amny ethnicities. Updated On: 8/24/04 at 09:44 PM

42nd Street, but not if the chorus and the dance chorus are separate. The regular chorus would still involve a little dance, but not as heavy duty and constant.

Seussical. Quick costume changes and lots of songs.

Having directed productions of Once On This Island and Sweeney Todd, and having been in a production of The Music Man and a number of other musicals, I have to say that the chorus work in Sweeney Todd is the most difficult that I've come across. If you are in the chorus, you have your work cut out for you. "God That's Good" and "City On Fire" alone will give you a good workout.
