Green Green Dress - tick, tick...BOOM! Let Yourself Go - All Shook Up Contact - RENT Say it Somehow - The Light in the Piazza You Can Be as Loud... - Avenue Q Special - Avenue Q
Interesting....I think that Contact can go either way with whether it's sexy or really creepy. I found it the latter when I saw it live, but I think it depends on the performers.
Anyway, I second: All that Jazz - CHICAGO Whatever Lola Wants - DAMN YANKEES Music of the Night - PHANTOM OF THE OPERA Point of No Return - PHANTOM OF THE OPERA As Long as You're Mine - WICKED
Interesting little story about the last one... I used to really dislike As Long As You're Mine on the OBC soundtrack. It just seemed, musically and lyrically, to be rather trite and basically the token duet to add substance to the Elphaba/Fiyero relationship. I read Maguire's novel, though, and then developed a whole new appreciation for the song. Lyrically, it does pretty well in communicating what obviously can't be shown onstage. So I'm still not crazy about the song itself, but with the underlying knowledge about the relationship from the book (which doesn't at all translate well in the musical) and with the way it's staged, it's undeniably pretty sexy.
"Sweet Transvestite" - Rocky Horror "Touch-a-Touch-a-Touch Me" - Rocky Horror "Special" - Avenue Q "You Can Be As Loud As The Hell You Want" - Avenue Q "Contact" - RENT
I don't think it's been mentioned: "You're The Top", Cole Porter :P I'm sort of joking. Kind of. "Can't Help Loving Dat Man" from Showboat is sexy in the right hands. "Sooner or Later" from Dick Tracy. Of course it has been mentioned several times but the sexiest song in any musical is obviously "A Call From the Vatican". Oh, someday I'll write a song like that.
Emily Skinner and Jeff McCarthy had such amazing chemistry. Emily had the most seductive look when she appeared from the darkness of his imagination toward the beginning of the song.
nydirector...lmao!!! That was great you just made my day a little better!
Ok i agree with pretty much all that have been posted...thank you whoever finally mention Green Green Dress...that was the first one that popped into my mind my top choices
Contact, Light My Candle-RENT Point of No Return and Music of the Night- POTO both songs within and taken out of context are just hot...esp if the person singing it has tons of emotion Special an Loud As the Hell You Want- but LAHYW only when taken out of context. When it is in the show it is just funny
and I agree with As Long as Your Mine-depending on who is doing it...but I see it as a very sensual song and it can be just hot to watch and listen to!
Of course we on this board could probably turn most things into sensual songs...
The title song from Anything goes is too...no mention of that yet though
I can't believe no one has mentioned "I've Got Your Number" from Little Me...that's the sexiest showtune of all time, imo.
Also, "Dangerous Game" - J and H "Lost and Found", "The Tennis Song", "It Needs Work" and "With Every Breath I Take" - City of Angels "Too Darn Hot" - Kiss Me Kate Heck, ALL of Cole Porter's stuff is electrifyingly sexy. "Naughty Baby" - Don't know original show, but now Crazy For You "Whatever Lola Wants" - Damn Yankees "Steam Heat" - The Pajama Game "On The Right Track" - Pippin "Light My Candle", "Out Tonight", "Take Me or Leave Me" - Rent
Here is one that I don't think anyone has mentioned, and I cannot believe that I forgot it: AC/DC- Starlight Express (along with Dangerous Game, the sexiest song I know)
Forgot about The Tennis Song and As Long As You're Mine.... (btw- I'm just leaving Cabaret, Chicago, and The Rocky Horror Show out of my list because for all of these the whole bloody show is sexy -to me).
Also, maybe I'm weird but.... Waltz for Eva and Che- Evita (depending on the staging, I saw a production where they waltzed thisclose for the entire song, but never actually touched...terribly hot)
Kiss of the Spider Woman (most of the songs, actually, but particularly the title song)
Rhythm of Life- Sweet Charity
Alive- Jekyll & Hyde (with Robert Cuccioli singing it)
Turn Back, O man- Godspell (dependign on how it is done, seen it both incredibly sexy and incredibly pathetic)
You Are Woman, I am Man- Funny Girl (funny and sexy at the same time, unbeatable combination)
(yup, I'm definitely weird) Carpe Noctem...
"We are all misfits, I guess, in the theatre. Otherwise we wouldn't be here." ~Michael Kandel, "Ogre"
When I first saw the title of this thread I thouht it said "Sexest Songs from Musicals"..so I was trying to think of the most blantantly offensive sexest songs in history....
Anyway..I second the poster who mention Cole Porter--pretty much all of his music is sexy--but "Too Darn Hot", "Why Don't You Behave" and "Always True to you in my Fashion" from Kiss Me, Kate immediately come to mind. "Steam Heat" from Pajama Game is great. How about "The Heat is on in Saigon" and "The American Dream" from Miss Saigon.
