This was said about this little boy with glasses:

"Mr. So-and-So is still upset about losing the part of Harry Potter."

Here are some favorites about audience members from my two trips:

this one was for a pre-teen girl:
"Ms. (insert name here) recently got lost in her own backyard."

and 2 other faves for the same guy:
"Bill Williams is sporting a sweater from the Bill Cosby collection."

"In his spare time Bill Williams likes to go golfing with his friends Jeff Jefferson and Dave Davids."

"Did you know that if you take the first two vowels in Olive and rearrange them it spells I-Love?"-Spelling Bee "It's night like this that hotel bars were specifically made." Light In The Piazza

Of another young boy in glasses, a mop of dark hair, and a striped sweater, Miss Peretti said:

"Mr. McCarthy will be starting at Hogwarts School of Magic next year."

This was said of an older man in a blue blazer.
"Mr. So and So shops at the same blazer store as Miss Schwartzandgrubenierre."

Pillowpants. 'Nuff said.

Lizzie, I understand completely. Also hence my lack of posting in this thread. I know. Plus, I know all these quotes verbatim, and seeing them misquoted is killing me.

Same here! Can someone give me a red pen?

When I was contestant:

"Ms. Souza is very popular...at band camp"

and my first word was cow :)

then:

"Ms. Souza has gone all the way...*45 seconds of laughter*...to Belgium"

and I can't remember my second word re: Favorite Spelling Bee quotes? but I was real close.

I adore this show...

there was an asian guy that was up there too, and his was

"Mr.? is running for student class president under the slogan: 'when you think of asian guy think of me'"

lol.

and all that I could do because of you was talk of love...

I've never heard it with "Aisian guy." I've seen the show three times and I'm pretty sure that every time, someone got the "When you think white guy, think me!" line.

"Billy, put down that phylactery, we're Episcopalian" (I'm sure I misspelled at least one of those words)

Although this isn't a funny favorite, I love "Life has such possibility."

I just got home from the show (SF) tonight.

One girl was wearing leggings under a denim skirt.

"Miss (name) couldn't remember which was luckier -- her lucky skirt or her lucky pants!"

There was also a guy with crazy, out-of-control curly hair.

"Mr. (name) was hit by lightning. Oops!"

"What school do you go to?"
"...shut UP."

"Don't you talk to me about stamina, Carl..."

"This is almost as overwhelming as having two fathers on Fathers' day!"

I love the show like mad. Sarah's little rants are the best.

I'm surprised that no one mentioned this one:

( I don't know if it was in the show since I've yet to see it, but it was at the Tony Awards )

-Your word is denguie (I don't know if that's the way you spell it)
-Denguie. Can you give me a deffinition?
-(horribly paraphrased) A medical condition in the stomach where pain a dihareah can occur.
-Can you use it in a sentace, please?
-When Billy was asked to describe the symptoms of his denguie he said, "It was like a race out of my butt and everybody won."

or...

-Your word is lugubrious.
-Yes, lugubrious. Something I'm all too familiar with.
-Watch as he spells it out with a technique that I've never witnessed before...the "Magic Foot".
-Lugubrious...L-U-G-U-B-R-I-O-U-S....(shouts)LUGUBRIOUS!
-That is correct!
-I know...

That one was used at the Tonys with Al Sharpton. :)

I love when Marcy Park says "Jesus?...I knew you were Asian!"
I saw the SF one and it's so funny the way Aaron Albano (Chip) just has that funny smile for acknowledgement.

It has to be one of my favorite lines.

I saw the tour in LA w/the original cast (u/s for Olive). One audience member was named Mr. DiCiaccio (not sure of the spelling, but pronounced "Dee-cha-chee-o") and had high, swept back hair. His first intro was "Mr. DiCiaccio left home tonight expecting to see a performance of Jersey Boys." The next time it was "Ms. DiJoanio loves Mr. DiCiaccio."

Another audience member was a young girl wearing Uggs and got the announcement that "Miss X was forced to drop out of last year's spelling bee when her feet froze."

this morning so and so said,"Mom, I don't need to wear a bra! It's just a spelling bee!"

also peretti said this to an asian kid with glasses:

so and so looks forward to attending Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry next semester.

When I went they had a few good ones for the guest spellers.
To a guy that was kind of slouching and dressed down: "When Mr. So-and-So grows up, he wants to get a job."
To a guy wearing all green and brown clothing: "In Spelling circles, Mr. Whatever is known as the Earth Toned Assassin!"

Oh, and at Adult Night:
Tooooooom Cruuuuuuuuuise.

I can't believe this hasn't been mentioned yet!

Kids night 2007, the guest speller was Julie Andrews.
Ms. Peretti: "Many girls hoping to audition for the middle school musical went home crying when they found out Julie Andrews was transferring to their school."
Panch: "Your word is supercalifragilisticexpialidocious."
Julie Andrews: "May I have the definition?"
Panch: "Extremely happy; euphoric." (something like that)
Julie Andrews: "Can I have that in a sentence?"
Panch: "Bipolar Mary said she often went from feeling supercalifragilisticexpialidocious to...eh."
Julie Andrews: "Ah, yes. Would you like that forwards or backwards?"
Panch: "I was afraid of that."

So funny! That exchange is forever stamped in my memory.

Also, the first time I saw the Bee, the definition for Mexicans was "Many a Mexican."

Sigh. I miss Bee.

Haha the first time I saw the bee, rona had a black understudy so olive had a black dad... and a black mom.
