I was listening to Promises, Promises and realized that the title song is only 1:47. Can you think of some other really good short (about 2 minutes or less) songs? Off the top of my head Piragua (ITH) Title song from Urinetown I Can Do That (ACL)
and lots from Caroline, or Change but that's really just one big amazing song
Nancy Reagan, meanest and thinnest of the first ladies moves into the white house. Yabba dabba! It's the eighties.
My favourite songs from "Little Mermaid" are really short--"The World Above (Reprise)," "Sweet Child," and "Sweet Child Reprise."
Also, I love those two little short songs from Les Miserables that start with "You at the barricades listen to this..." And, "Do You Hear The People Sing" is only 1 minute, 59 seconds.
Chauvelin's angry reprise of "Where's the Girl" in Scarlet Pimpernel.

"You have two kinds of shows on Broadway – revivals and the same kind of musicals over and over again, all spectacles. You get your tickets for The Lion King a year in advance, and essentially a family... pass on to their children the idea that that's what the theater is – a spectacular musical you see once a year, a stage version of a movie. It has nothing to do with theater at all. It has to do with seeing what is familiar.... I don't think the theatre will die per se, but it's never going to be what it was.... It's a tourist attraction." Stephen Sondheim
I agree with "I Hate the Bus" and...even though it's 2 minutes and 9 seconds, can I count "Three Letters" from She Loves Me?
When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain.

"The Man is Dead" (Curtains) "Sweet Child(reprise)" and "I Want the Good Times Back(reprise)" (The Little Mermaid) "I Need to Know" (Tarzan), if you consider that to be a short song.
