Any semblance of context would be beneficial here.
Apparently she’ll be doing a 3 week stint as Maxine Dean(I presume they’re keeping the actress currently in that track to perform Juno and the ensemble duties). I don’t have any idea when the dates are, but around Halloween wouldn’t be a terrible time to have her in it.
The rumor I heard was that the role was going to be beefed up extensively for her (since the version in the show mostly laughs at her husband's jokes).
She was on the Beetlejuice website for about 5 minutes yesterday
Oh god.
Everything I hear about this woman has been against my will.
Get Roger Bart to play Maxie and then I’ll be interested
Will Roger Bart attend her opening night?
...I somehow did not know they were ever together.
Well, I think Roger Bart has been with just about everyone at some point...
From a purely financial standpoint, this is a great idea. First, it's Beetlejuice round 3, so not exactly anything serious/high-brow/etc. Second, she's really done a great job rebuilding her public image (as much as she can at this point), and a lot of her Beetlejuice cosplay TikToks went really viral a few years ago. Considering she sold out the St. James for her concert show (and she isn't a great singer, for what it's worth), she will probably sell some tickets. Also, they're expanding a small part she can play, too, which is better than stunt casting her in any of the principal parts. Not sure if it's a hot take, but this isn't the worst idea.

She is a horrendously bad singer.
Confirmed for November 4-23.
During the original run of the show, I once noticed that Otho is a glorified Act 2 cameo: a role with no singing, very little lines, but a big entrance and exit. The role isn't doubled with, say, Maxie Dean or any other notable parts. Even the Eddie Perfect concept demo album revealed they had intended the role to be a larger singing part but cut it down.
My theory had been that Otho was being earmarked as a "special guest spot" that would be easy to fill with cameos that might improvise or play around with the character's one big scene, i.e. how Jesus in the LA Reefer madness went from being part of the Narrator's track to being a "special guest role" during the second half of the run. To my great surprise, it never happened.
If they want publicty for the show just have her hand out flyers outside. She’s terrible

I want Broadway to do well, but when I see **** like this, I don't.
Casting garbage like her is pandering to the lowest audience member. Stop that ****.
Do they not have real actors available? In New York City? Does she honestly sell tickets?

Is this not the same thing that Chicago has been doing for years? They had Wendy Williams on that show, and in a singing role! At least they aren't pretending Paytas can sing, and carving something out that matches her ability. I'm kinda shocked at the outrage over this. This is a tour stint with no opening night that's paying the cast pennies. What else did we expect? This is the least of my issues with this production

On top of that, the amount of performers who took to social media to decry this is quite high. They are PISSED because it feels like a slap in the face to the work they put in year after year only to be bypassed for an otherwise talentless YouTube hack (which is honestly my kindest description of her).
Part of me would really like there to be a protest outside her first performance just to make the message that we don’t want her a bit more loud than social media or through power of the purse.

She sold out the St. James for her one-night-only concert in minutes.

Nobody was bypassed. They are creating a job that otherwise doesn't exist without a big name to fill it.
Where is the outrage from these performers that their colleagues are being paid below the equity minimum? All the anger here is being directed in the wrong place.
Personally, I think bringing Beetlejuice back to NYC for the third time in six years cheapens the artistic integrity of the Broadway experience way more than stunt casting a YouTube personality in a nearly non-existent role. It’s a holiday money-grab - if it helps producers make an extra $10/ticket, why not? She isn’t cast as Lydia or Delia - as someone else suggested, Chicago would do just that and we’d barely bat an eye.

100%
Didn’t see Beetlejuice the first or second time. I will not see it the third time either.
