I'm kind of curious about this one....but it's a two parter, concluding on Thursday.
What thinks ye?
The Polanski version is one of what I believe to be one of the most perfect films ever made. This remake for television could only hope to be a hair above pretty terrible.
I agree, Polanski's film is a polished gem ! I think it is an idiotic idea to retell it! Will go by the way of Psycho. Who could even touch Ruth Gordon?!?

you cannot beat this!
I hate when they even try to remake flawless films.
Totally agree
The film's cast was impeccable. Cannot see how they could top it. In the film, they left it to the imagination. No idea what they will do here. Will they show what the little bugger looks like?
I remember when Mad did a parody and the baby had old Alfred E Neuman's face. Priceless
I do think moving the setting to Paris makes sense--in the age of the cell phone it's hard to make Rosemary seem isolated.

Basically, nobody has any idea what the fudge Mr Roxy is talking about.
I'm usually pretty sure he's using words, though. Sometimes of the English language. I don't know what order he thinks he's putting them in most of the time, but at least I think they're actual words.

Haha! Yes! But the only people who might possibly get his references (old Alfred E. Newman, priceless) are people he's blocked! Isn't that the perfect microcosm of life?
Why?
The original is perfect, one of the few films I can watch over and over again and never tire of seeing. It is also one of the best movie adaptation of a novel. Part of that, of course, is that the book reads like a great movie; but there are far too many other books that read like great movies that end up as bad ones.
At this point, Rosemary's Baby would now be 46 years old probably with kids of her own so I really don't see how that would work in a remake.
Ugh. This was completely uninspired and a real drag to get through.
It reminded me a lot of a knock-off version of 666 Park Avenue (RIP).
The casting was poor and the script worse. A real ratings bomb too; after all the promotion NBC gave this I'm sure they're very disappointed. After no one tuned in for part one, I wonder how part two will fare on Thursday night.
I think the most glaring miscasting was with Guy. He has a range of point A to point A.
A funny thing is I always pictured Roxy looking like old Alfred E Newman. I don't know where I got that vision from but it's entrenched in my mind for some reason.
Back on topic, apparently Whizzer is the only person who watched the remake.
Rosemary's bomb.
I watched it because I forgot about Game of thrones.
(a) Why bother watching a miscast remake when the original 1968 classic is so readily available.
(b) Airing a film about a woman who is impregnated by Satan and gives birth to his spawn on Mother's Day is such an epic fail.
(c) The whole thing is an EPIC FAIL
The Castro Theater used to show Mommmie Dearest on Mother's Day.
If It's on Hulu, I'll watch it.
Jane, I agree with you about Guy. He was AWFUL!
I watched it after I finished the OUAT and Revenge finales, and I think that made it even worse for me.
I watched the first hour last night, and the second this afternoon. What a turkey. I also had no idea this was a vanity project for Zoe, she and half her family seemingly produced it.
I'm sure we'll all see remakes of Jaws and The Exorcist before the end of this decade.
I think it was a pretty dumb idea to air it on Mother's Day. I get it if you're trying to get some campy gay following but this was produced for the masses. They're not trying to watch a Satan-impregnated mom during that time. I also don't get showing part two on Thursday. The seven people who watched the first part will have forgotten about it by then.

I had no idea how sacred Mother's Day was until this thread.

Well, I for one didn't know it was miscast until I watched it.
