Posted: 8/12/08 at 9:00amJane2, Raj has been a favorite of mine since 2004!! He was here in DC after the 2004 Olympics for an exhibition with the men's and women's team. Even though he was an alternate that year, his routines were quite impressive. Seems like a very grounded and all-around nice guy. You don't know how happy I am that he got to compete this time around.

All the things they mention in the article. Were obvious if you listened and watched the opening cermony. Still it's the best opening cermony I've ever seen.

I'm very happy for the men's gymnastics team. I cannot wait to see the women tonight. I'm actually very nervous considering Chellsie Memmel and Samantha Peszek are both injured. I'm assuming they are both pretty much out, except for the uneven bars again, right? However, with Shawn Johnson and Nastia Liukin competing, I do have faith. It would not surprise me either if they both go to the all around competition and do well there. I don't know enough about Bridget Sloan or Alicia Sacramore to comment on them.
And just totally random, but has anyone else noticed that all the women have blonde or blondish hair except for Chellsie Memmel? I just thought it was sort of funny. Not that it means anything at all.

I don't mind terribly that the wool was pulled over our eyes (I'm sure multiple times) during the Opening Ceremony
But I do feel bad for the "not cute enough" girl.

Did people not listen to the commentary during the opening ceremonies? They totally explained that the fireworks were fabricated, especially the "footsteps."
I do feel bad for the little girl, though.
And yeah ... loving that we get the feeds almost live, but not so happy about staying up so late.

They are both adorable. Their families are so close that they are sharing an apartment while attending the games.

Darn, these USA Diving girls are just slippin'-up too much. Has tis ever really been our event?
I'm just BAFFLED at how impressive the Chinese "just like twins" diving ladies are.
The Stromotion photos are incredible. Can you even discern the 2 divers in those pix they show?
