Opening and first sketch fine. All downhill from there. In the past, a good show was funny until at least weekend update . Not anymore
Jay I am receptive to other views despite your comments. Problem is most people on this board are not especially re politics. I post my views when they are unpopular and than leave the thread as I have no intention of being used as a punching bag. Many here cannot tolerate divergent political views and start name calling when you do not agree 150%. I have a list of 7 or 8 posters I no longer view as they have proved unable to have a rational conversation. The BWW Boot Hill is littered with those who did not toe the line.
The only thing I made for this week was the cat and the nuclear bomb. Gaga's Chair was made by the Scenic Shop. Steiglebauer's. I am too busy this week getting ready for tech on the Beckett plays and am at the moment working on silicone prostheses for PLAY.
E-Meth again? I have to say, this episode of SNL was sad. Time to call it a wrap?
Tonight was a mixed bag. I LOVE Katy Perry, but I don't think either performance really gelled.
Yeah, I didn't think much of anything Bruce did was really that funny.
I do like Cecily Strong on Weekend Update, but I kind of wish they would put someone with her after Seth leaves. I just like that segment better with 2. Then again, I can't compare yet because she hasn't done it alone yet. Maybe I will not think that after I see her.
The only sketch I really thought was funny was Boy Dance Party. The Tarran Killim skit - what is it, Eddie? - didn't amuse me the first time, and it didn't this time either. Same with the Kirby skit - I just don't find it funny.
At least Weekend Update was pretty good.
Omg after the first ep of the season I had such high hopes. But this show just sucked ass.
Katy was great though
. Oh kenan how I wonder how you git those comprising pictures of lorne michaels. Its the only way to describe how your suckiness remains on this show.

Bruce Willis is smug and humorless and the perfect example of how the wrong host diminishes everything he appears in. The barbershop sketch, the homophobic Michael Kors impression, the inability to lose his self-consciousness and fully commit to the dance party sketch.
On the other hand, cold opening in space, 24 Hour a Energy Shot for Dating Actresses and Weekend Update, particularly the Jenner sequence, all made me laugh.

I thought it was a dud of an episode, save for Weekend Update and a couple of other chuckles here and there. The barber sketch was torture.
It sounded like - especially during the first song - that Katy Perry was supposed to be singing along to a backing track that wasn't loud enough. I'm not particularity wile about her anyway, as to me all her songs just loud like screaming, but I thought she sounded extra rotten last night.

She's no Miley, that's for sure.
Overall it was a dud but there were enough little moments that made it worth watching. Kate as Penelope Cruz should get an Emmy award and the Prince Harry joke on Update made me laugh so hard that I cried.
I wanted a Color of Night 2 sketch.

I had to check in to see what folks thought of Boy Dance Party. I sat through it thinking "Not only do I not think this is funny I can't even imagine what was supposed to be funny?"

Willis was wooden
Sad they had to replay the emeth skit just 2 weeks later
Katy Perry's second performance looked like a spoof skit with all those dancers and fans with cloths.
I thought I was watching that dj club skit from years ago.

One of the reasons eMeth played again is; remember SNL is a live show. Sometimes sketches run longer then expected due to performer reads, technical glitches or many other reasons. Sometimes they run too long to do every sketch they had planned for the evening. So, let us say they were going to end the show with a sketch which was 4.5 minutes yet because Update or Armageddon ran long, they only have 2.24 minutes left, the will cancel the last sketch and in it's place put something from that season that fills the time. These "Evergreen" pieces are kept on hand to punch up at a moment's notice. It is not due to lack of ideas. It is a necessity to make the proper time in a live broadcast.

It's also nothing new. I can remember fake commercials being repeated not long after their first airing years ago, so I'm not sure why this time it's "sad."
I think it would be fun to show classic fake commercials. There were so many great Gild Radner ones. Not Gilda's, but my favorite is still the circumcision in the car to show how smooth the ride is. At the end, the mohel says "Poy fect"

I wonder if there would be royalty complications? I'd like to see Puppy Uppers & Doggy Downers at least once a season.
There was a lot of good stuff from previous seasons. A favorite commercial of mine will always be Oops I Crapped My Pants.
Housewife: [ surprised ] Hi! [ to camera ] To be honest, this whole family thing started out as a con. I was going to play Ted like a punk and sell his telescope for pot. But with Lemon Glow on my side, I think I'll stay.
Announcer: Lemon Glow. For the home you weren't sure you wanted.
oops
For those who haven't heard Kerry Washington will be hosting on Nov. 2 with Eminem as the musical guest!
Best episode of the new season so far
The cold opening was hilarious and spot on. I tuned out after the parody on the slave movie.
Norton was better than expected and enjoyed the cameos.
PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!
