I don't necessarily disagree. It's just noise to me, for people who aren't into music. A soundtrack to their hedonism. The teenagers listening to this today aren't going to be nostalgic about when they're retired - it will be forgotten.
I realize I now sound about a hundred years old.

Of course it will become nostalgia for kids listening to it today when they're older. Its the music they listened to when they were younger. You don't have to like it but nostalgic songs don't have to be "great" songs, they just have to represent something. And I guarantee you that her music (for kids today) will do just that.
haha, I'm the one who's old. In my "getting high" days, it was the Grateful Dead that did it. And boy did I do it. Now, if I hear them, it does nothing for me. In fact it is kind of noise to me now. So maybe you're right about the kids who are getting high on Miley.
But somehow, I doubt it, Jay. Unless little elementary school kids are getting high. Maybe they are.
Little elementary kids are her target audience? Well then I'm sure we can all agree there's something not quite right. Even Annie Lennox hit out out this type of stuff today, calling it "porn".
Admittedly, I'm probably only being harsh on Miley because she was mean to my beloved Sinead O'Connor.

No, her target audience is teenagers who will (in 50 years) be nostalgic for her music because it was the music they listened to when they were younger.
I hate that twee, lazy scold Annie Lennox. What an asshole she is. And a bore. And did I mention lazy?
"It's just noise to me, for people who aren't into music. A soundtrack to their hedonism."
All sorts of people enjoy all kinds of music in all sorts of ways. The album as a piece holds together really well and covers the turf of a young adult who fell in and out of love and feels everything GIGANTICALLY. I never, ever thought I'd love and defend a Miley Cyrus album but I love (and believe me Jay) and am into good music. I also believe in giving credit when something surprises and delights me.
I despise Annie Lennox and her utter lack of ideas and her twee faux-humble gracious smile and the fact that she is completely artistically bankrupt. I now think she's a bitch for going after a 20 year old woman from some perch in her remote goddamned castle. Who is the asshole who thought it would be a good idea for her to have a phone or internet access? They should be shot.
I don't give a **** about her charity work. Maybe she does it to counterbalance what an awful bitch she is. What, does she deign to make a record once a decade now? She's gotta do something to keep her name in the spotlight, while criticizing others for seeking it. Why not charity work? Here's to the ladies who lunch, phony baloney Annie Lennox.
She trashed Bowie after that. She was appalled, you know. She didn't know how to shut up about other performers in 1985 and almost 30 years later she thinks the Wrecking Ball video is "highly stylized porn"". She obviously hasn't seen porn since the Victorian era, fussy old twat.
Wow. NAMO really does have a problem with females. He uses the bitch and c*** words a lot when referring to women i am guessing his Mom would not like that or he wouldnt want someone saying that about his Mom.. Someone should explain to him that its the same as calling a black an n word or a gay the f word. Misogynist.

It all started Jay when I was on hold for some kind of tech support back when tech support was something that took hours. The hold music was that god awful covers album she did, with unnecessary Big Chill era ditties and the poor Clash's Train in Vain smushed in there to add insult to injury. I had thought she was an asshole ( full disclosure, I loved The Tourists despite her) but listening to that entire calculated and unoriginal slab of crap over and over and over almost did me in. Now to watch her go all prim and proper on Miley reminds me of nothing so much as that harridan Joan Rivers attacking Vanessa Williams when she was down.

I cannot believe that "SHAKE THAT SACK!" moment. Boy Dance Party was a pleasant surprise.

I am offended by Willis' "impersonation" of Michael Kors. It's as if someone described him as an eccentric, stereotypical gay fashionista, and Bruce Willis just played to type. That's not how Kors speaks nor behaves. I'm speechless.
Willis is just floating through this night. No real commitment to any sketch that wasn't pre-taped.
Unrelated -- SNAFU, did you make that drama mask chair for the Lady Gaga talk show sketch? I WANT IT!
