Broadway in Chicago’s Fall 2026/Winter 2027 subscription series was announced today:
JEKYLL & HYDE, September 8 - October 25 @ Broadway Playhouse
Dirty Dancing: The Musical, September 9 - 20 @ James M. Nederlander Theatre
Operation Mincemeat: A New Musical, September 29th - October 11 @ CIBC Theatre
Jersey Boys, November 10 - 22 @ CIBC Theatre
Maybe Happy Ending, January 5 - 17, 2027 @ CIBC Theatre
Oh, Mary!, January 19 - February 7, 2027 @ CIBC Theatre
Interestingly, the entire back half of the season is exclusively playing the CIBC. Wonder if there’s expected to be a big out of town tryout playing the Nederlander or Palace around the holiday season, as there isn’t anything scheduled for all of December.

Center Theatre Group announced today: Our season kicks off with the world premiere musical The Turning, a haunting, folk-infused journey set among California’s sequoias at the Taper. At the Ahmanson, we welcome the wildly funny, Tony Award-winning Oh, Mary! straight from Broadway. These shows are followed by the exuberant Destiny of Desire by Karen Zacarías, the North American premiere of Christmas Carol Goes Wrong, National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene’s acclaimed Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish, Kimberly Belflower’s electrifying John Proctor is the Villain, and we end our blockbuster season by completing August Wilson’s celebrated Century Cycle at CTG with his towering masterpiece Fences and the joyful Broadway hit BOOP!® The Musical.

Pretty fantastic season for CTG after a disappointing start for Snehal Desai as the Artistic Director. It seems he's starting to dial in what is actually interesting for the company. This is the first season since he's taken over where there's more good offerings than not, and the first where there are consistently great shows on the schedule.

I believe this is the first time CTG has ever presented a non-equity production.

Is John Proctor a tour or their own production?

They are also bringing the non-equity Music Man to the Ahmanson for over a month, and it is not part of the subscription. That's...odd. Our CTG:FWD programming expands the experience even further with special events and bonus shows, including the return of Dog Man: The Musical and Clue, as well as Meredith Willson’s The Music Man and Riverdance 30 – The New Generation—and this is all just the beginning with a lineup at the Kirk Douglas Theatre to be announced later this spring.

Again CTG misses the mark with a wow show. This season I thought they pull a late rabbit from the hat, but didn’t happen.

I'm happy with Oh, Mary being included with my subscription. I agree with you however, there seems to be something missing. I would love to know what show(s) you would consider a wow.

CLUE is non-Eq now so technically CTG is presenting two non-Eq tours this season. Genuinely surprised.

It’s a co-production with ACT in San Francisco and Seattle Rep. It is not a replica of the Broadway production.

They had a late announcement a couple years back when CTG announced &Julet as a late surprise. This season I thought they do similar with The Outsiders but that went to the Pantanges instead. I thought they get Mincemeat that went to the Pantanges instead. So something like Sunset Boulevard or Chess would be great, I have always banged on about My Neighbour Totoro from London. Maybe Just in Time or Buena Vista Social Club. But unfortunately the Pantanges remorselessly hoovers everything up.
The Pantanges isn’t great for intimate shows.

Excited for Waitress and Hadestown, as it’s been several years since Waitress performed here and Hadestown is one of my favorites!

Have we heard any updates or rumblings about the status of the shows slated to run at the Kennedy Center this summer? Moulin Rouge ends its engagement July 5, but Back to the Future, Doubtfire, and Outsiders have July and August engagements after this supposed two-year closure begins.

Moulin Rouge seems to be unaffected, but the latter 3 have been taken off the Kennedy Center website.

Damn. It was the last engagement for Back to the Future and so I guess they'll shutter following their Portland engagement.
I wonder if Outsiders can pop right into the National Theatre.
There's a three week period between Beetlejuice and Notebook that essentially fills the gap in their tour schedule.

I inquired via email re:The Outsiders at Kennedy Center. Their response was that they will notify when/if the engagement is cancelled. Typical response from this new version of the once respectable organization.

Outsiders has announced a two-week return engagement to Chicago from August 4-16. This is two of the three weeks they were supposed to be in DC. Glad they were able to fill up part of that gap period and hope they can land another venue to play the week after their Toronto run.

They’ll likely just go on a layoff

I forgot to add, The Simon and Garfunkel musical. I'm not sure if it's actually a musical?
Was hoping for BOOP but maybe it will be here for the 27/28 season. Palm Desert usually gets the third round of tours. I'll see again BOOP in Los Angeles.

Just saw info on the website of the Venetian Resort & Casino in Las Vegas that they will be hosting the Mrs. Doubtfire tour for a week at the end of July, and the Book of Mormon tour for 2 weeks in November. They look to be the standard shows, and not any sort of reduced versions for Las Vegas.
