What happens when the Pantages gets booked with a sit down? The Ahmanson picks up the slack, I’m sure.

Hysterically enough, the Nederlanders then book tours into the Dolby!
This current season at the Ahmanson has been pretty sparse and dismal, even with Paranormal Activity being a surprise bright spot. I wish more tours booked the Ahmanson - they get longer runs, the theater has much better sightlines, and it's more pleasant overall as an audience member (even though the Pantages is of course stunning).
A lot of times you can predict which shows will hit which venue based on their vibes. Operation Mincemeat gives STRONG Ahmanson vibes. Oh Mary. The Outsiders potentially. Maybe a wild card like Tommy. And then you have shows practically destined for the Pantages, like Death Becomes Her. Part of the fun of being an LA theater nerd!

I don’t disagree, but would’ve thought Six was perfect for the Ahmanson and their type of show, they could’ve done a six week rum there. Six seems to be selling well in the Pantanges though?

I just got a text from Broadway in Hollywood announcing their announcement…
March 5th
Hopefully they’ve snagged something awesome to keep us waiting so much longer than most of the nation.

I would have thought Hamilton might be an add on by this point, but looks like they made it part of the regular season just to get people to subscribe. There's no way I'd be tempted by this package. If I were to subscribe to a full season I'd subscribe to Seattle where they get newer shows and actual Equity tours. I've only seen & Juliet once back in 2023, so I might have been tempted if it was a winter show. But it's playing the week before I'm going to Las Vegas this year. Canadian Thanksgiving weekend in LV already has Oh Mary, Josh Groban, & NKOTB on the schedule, with probably more to be anounced. Finally got a cheap flight yesterday during Westjet sale. Whole trip will be less than a Van Broadway subscription.

I’m looking forward to this season. It does bug me that we don’t get many equity tours but I’m honestly happy that we aren’t getting cats or wicked again

My local PAC has been getting more union tours lately, albeit split weeks, but union nonetheless. What bugs me however is the limited amount of shows we get, with us only getting four shows this season, stretching from December to June.
I think the numbers are there for more, but a lot of these places either don't have the faith, or do it to save money.

This past season was a good one for equity shows (only Clue is non-equity).
This new season is a disappointment in that regard.
also The Bodyguard… what?

San Francisco:
The Outsiders
Buena Vista Social Club
Maybe Happy Ending
Death Becomes Her
Operation Mincemeat: A New Musical
The Great Gatsby
Add-on: Oh, Mary!
It’s a strong season, with every show still running on Broadway, two Best Musical winners, and multiple popular hits.
The following season is probably going to be grim, given the dearth of new musicals on Broadway this season.

Really interesting to see Oh, Mary is an add on in San Francisco…
ETA: oh wait, I’m just now seeing it’s a co-presentation with ACT.

I don't disagree that season was awful, but it had & Juliet so that was the one Broadway show first visit to LA. Nederlander/Pantages has been claiming everything.

Oh Mary! Was already anounce for The Smith Center for October 6-11, but I guess they considered it too risqué to include in the regular Broadway season package."
I know the Smith Center is not the strip and Vegas for tourists is not the same as Vegas for people who live that, but your comment made me laugh.
We saw it in NYC with Cole and it's has been announced it is playing LA, just not if its Pantages or Ahmanson yet, but we will know by next week

Broadway in Hollywood puts shows at the Dolby Theatre down the street. (home of the Oscars)
You will never criticize the Pantages as a barn if you'd had to sit thru a show at the Dolby. That place is awful. We almost gave up our season seats.

No shows in the Golden Gate and only Oh Mary in the Curran, all the other shows in the Orpheum including Operation Mincemeat, which is a surprise, as I would’ve thought this would be more suited for the Curran.
I guess there will be some season add ons, could see Hamilton, Harry Potter, Mamma Mia and Moulin Rouge coming back
