I think it's a great idea. World class shows and lots of extra tax revenue for nyc.....
Yes, if there’s anything the Theatre District is lacking, it’s world-class shows.

Jay Z is part of the group bidding. Can you imagine the A-list talent we might get to see in concert in NYC. Beyonce in Times Square...yes, please

You do know that Madison Square Garden is less than 10 blocks south of the proposed casino site? They already get some "A List talent" there!
Beyonce is not going to be doing a concert in theatre in a casino in Times Square, get real. There is no way a venue large enough to accommodate that can even be built in the area.
Even Gaga’s residency in Vegas is in a theatre that dwarves every single Broadway house several times over.
Love it! Bring it on for TS - Broadway!

There's a reason she did her tour for several nights in East Rutherford NJ and not anywhere in the City. Y'all keep wanting things that are incompatible with the logistics of a city with a limited footprint.
Also, that looks like the most boring casino I've ever seen.
Thought these quotes were worth pointing out from that article,
“Caesars Palace Times Square will not look like a big Las Vegas casino. For example, we won’t have any gaming on the ground floor. Visitors will need to enter our lobby, go through security, and choose to move upstairs onto the gaming floor—raising the barrier to entry and helping make this an intentional destination for gaming, not a place for impulse gamblers.”
“The point of this project is to allow all of the small businesses, workers, hotels, Broadway theaters, and venues to benefit from the enormous economic potential of Manhattan’s first-ever live gaming facility,”

Yeah sure, and if you actually believe that crock of sh*t, then I’ve got a bridge (or two) to sell you!
If this ever opens it's gonna go bankrupt within 5 years. Rich New Yorkers already gamble, its called the stock market. They don't need to go through all of this for that.
I appreciate the tacit admission that the only thing a casino can bring to the area that is not already here is gambling. Dining, shows, shopping- all world-class and all here.
I don’t have an issue with gambling and I don’t think a casino will change the character of the area or anything (and if we must have a casino here, I suppose it’s better in this location than that horrible atrocity proposed for Coney Island). I just think it’s a huge boondoggle. These casinos always promise huge tax windfalls, thousands of jobs, business spread to everyone around, and they so often fall far, far short and leave the locals holding the bag. In 5, 10, 15 years, this will have become just another thing in the fabric of the city and eventually no longer sustain itself and fold, leaving everyone to wonder what to do with it.
And my central question remains: how many people will really be enticed into coming to Times Square for a single casino? The dedicated gamers are going elsewhere. Families can’t participate. Perhaps it’ll be a popular option for business conferences, but that’s not enough to sustain it long-term. Cities like Vegas are their casinos- it’s their culture. But in NYC, a casino is competing with one of the most significant cities in the world.
