Most people only get a day or two off from work when a first-degree relative dies. Do you expect her to sit in a dark room and cry for two weeks?

Audra was in brilliant voice today from Some People On. I've been to several shows with mid-act standing ovations; Rose's Turn was the first time I joined one. 

Danny Burstein was a perfect foil, once again showing he's a treasure of the American theater. His final scene with Audra was heartbreaking. 

It took me a bit to warm up to Joy Woods, but her strip and the final scene with her mother were excellent.

I have some minor quibbles with George's staging- "Sing out, Louise" doesn't have the same oomph when Rose just appears rather than striding down the aisle. But the second half of act 2 (from Audra's nervous breakdown in the dressing room on) was brilliantly staged.

And those who complained at the start of previews about the overture with the lights on: now not only do the lights go down, but the conductor even gets a little bow at the start

Rose's Turn does not occur mid-act. Did you mean another number?

No, I meant Rose's Turn. A standing ovation before the bows I guess you could say

Is Tryphena the only cover for Audra? Wouldn't be surprised if Audra opts to be out this entire week

Tryphena is the only cover for Audra as standby for the role of Rose no understudy listed.

Audra will be out for today's matinee, 2/19.  Nothing has been announced yet about this evening's performance.

So bummed. Bought tickets last night to the matinee. Just got a refund and bought tickets to Sunset instead. Sigh.

If Audra is sick, at this point, just let Tryphena go on for the remaining performances this week.

Do you all think there's any chance of Audra going on tonight? I'll need to get on my train by about 2pm, which puts me in a little jam, if they announce 3 hours before as they did for the matinee.

Audra McDonald will be absent from the following performances:

February 19
February 22 - 23
June 30 - July 6

Hmm... on telecharge I see an "Audra McDonald will not appear at this performance" on today's matinee, but it's not on the evening performance.

As of right now, there’s no exclamation point next to tonight’s performance- so I’m not so sure if she’s out or not.

Given that she's out tonight and all weekend, I'd assume Audra will take tomorrow and Friday night off as well.
