When it closes it will be the 84th longest running Broadway show of all time. For this type of show, what an accomplishment!
Now THAT is what will sell tickets in Melbourne and Toronto: "84th Longest-Running Broadway Show in History!". They will be flocking to buy tickets. FLOCKING I tell you.

I kind of wish that the rumors of it going to New World Stages were true. I really love this show and sad to see it go. But, I do feel like, in many respects it was the little musical that could.
Hated it the first time.. gave it a second chance, continued to hate it. The music was beautiful. This had a longer run than Passion. All I'm saying.
Caught this show with its original cast three times. It was my first exposure to the story, the music, and the characters. When Your Mind's Made Up was one of the most emotionally thrilling songs I've ever seen on stage. Bravo to this production. I'm very glad it never took a stunt casting route to stay open.
Seeing Once for the first time in Melbourne in about a month. Excited ^_^.

'Bout time. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
This show offers a textbook case of how the odious alliance of critics, award givers, and the media can work as a team to foist a miserable thing like this on an unsuspecting public. When those three are on the same page and fire on all cylinders, they become a well-oiled machine bulldozing everything and everyone in sight. They must be so proud of themselves for their accomplishment here. And happy, too.
The only ones left unhappy were bored, angry, and irritated audiences.
One of the most magical shows I've ever seen. It had a great run.
Who remembers that conversation between After Eight and Mr. Roxy in “Manhattan”?
- I think Lewitt's overrated. In fact, I think he may be a candidate for the old academy. Mr. Roxy and I have invented the Academy of the Overrated, for such notables as Gustav Mahler…
- And Isak Dinesen and Carl Jung…
- Scott Fitzgerald…
- Lenny Bruce. Can't forget Lenny Bruce, now, can we? How about Norman Mailer? And Walt Whitman?
- Who was that guy you had? You had a great one last week.
- No, I didn't have it. It was yours. It was Heinrich Boll, wasn't it?
- Oh, God. Oh, we wouldn't want to leave out old Heinrich.

I'll never know why this was billed as a musical, but the direction and movement alone were innovative.

^ Agreed. I loved it but it's definitely a play with music.
Actually, if you listen to the lyrics carefully, you'll understand why...

I still can't believe people feel this is a play with music.
I've yet to see a play with music with THAT much singing and musical staging. Plus the lyrics are carefully related to the characters singing them.
Peter and the Starcatcher got away with it! (Although it's been a long while since I thought about the music....maybe I'm totally off base.)

You should be! I saw it last night (with quite low expectations - partially thanks to this board!) and absolutely loved it! Make sure to get there early enough to have a drink onstage at the Princess (the best view of the chandelier!) and enjoy the pre-show entertainment.
LOTS of us on the board liked and even loved the show (Me, for example). It's just more fun to shout about the stuff you don't like, for whatever reason.
