I think that the artwork is alright, not great but not terrible either.
BTW: I am very happy that Ashman's cut songs will be in the musical. I saw in the Aladdin DVD that "Proud of Your Boy" was a great mirror of Howard's realationship with his own mother.

"~ is the short chubby little guy in the last pic from the philippine production supposed to be aboo?!!!"
First, the chubby guy is a gal.
Second, the role was double cast. This was a publicity photo with both genies.
~ oh i am so sorry...i don't have any knowledge of the production.
~ how do they handle aboo?
I believe Abu has been cut from the stage production, and is instead replaced by a trio of Aladdin's friends (Babkak, Omar, and Kassim).
In Seattle, Iago was made an obnoxious human rather than an obnoxious parrot. ...Can they just cut Iago altogether?
Carlos Alberto - BroadwayGuy12 was correct, Abu has been cut from all stage versions. My neighbor's son performed in the MTI version of Aladdin and Abu was cut, as was Rajah.
That Filipino Princess Jasmine on the last page is beautiful.
The artwork is an improvement over Broadway's Mary Poppins and Little Mermaid, but it really needs more vibrancy and creativity. At least it's not just a photo like Newsies.

The artwork is very consistent with Disney's another Broadway productions in that they like to use simple, suggested/abstract silhouettes of the characters. The only exception to this was NEWSIES, though the style was used at Paper Mill and I think will eventually be used at some point for the Broadway production if they keep up this rapid pace of rebranding. Speaking of which, not a huge fan of the new navy/red logo, but I don't hate it either.
Anyway back to the point:
BEAUTY - Beast profile silhouette.
LION KING - Simba's face silhouette.
TARZAN - Tarzan silhouette.
POPPINS - Mary's silhouette.
MERMAID - Ariel's silhouette - albeit with a little more detail (not a huge fan of this choice).
ALADDIN - Genie's silhouette.

You are referring to Disney's junior or kids version of an ALADDIN not based on the upcoming Broadway production. The version coming to Broadway has absolutely nothing to do with the version currently licensed by MTI. Just to clarify.

Sorry if this has been discussed before and I missed it, but any rumors/info on casting?
1001 apologies! Just saw the other thread !

There was nothing suggested or abstract about Mary Poppins or Little Mermaid. And the Lion King face is not a silhouette.

The original MARY POPPINS was a silhouette with colored accents. It was changed to the photo Poppins about four years into its run. MERMAID, like POPPINS, was also a silhouette with colored accents - it was more silhouette than not.
And the LION KING one practically is. It's still within the same simple suggested look I was discussing.
What I mean, too, is that their designs are traditionally very flat as opposed to realistic.

The silhouette of Poppins was dropped in 2009 when the us tour kicked off. There was also the original that had her silhouette made of flowers. Of all the art works I preferred the original Broadway art work. I found the pic of Scarlett strallen to be a bit tacky.

The flower Poppins logo was my favourite, I never liked the one they used when it opened on Broadway. The flower logo was done by Dewynters while I think the subsequent logos were done by Disney.
There was also the original that had her silhouette made of flowers.
That was thew creative one. Then they went with the more generic animated route same as they did with Little Mermaid, which was the worst of the lot. My favorite Broadway logo design was actually for Tarzan. I thought it was stunning.
I also have the huge three-sheet for the world premiere of Beauty and the Beast in Houston which featured a different logo design than what ended up on Broadway.

That logo is pretty decent although the one they used for Broadway production wasn't bad either. I quite the Aida logo as well. The logo for Der Glockner is my least favourite, they could have ben more creative.

I'm excited to see what the logo for the new HUNCHBACK will look like... though that is still a while off I'd say.
Additionally, MERMAID's was also my least favorite of the lot. They had so much pontential to come up with and that was their best?
IMO, it should have bared a closer resemblance to this poster from the film:
Which they seemed to have incorporated into the Tokyo production:

The Mermaid poster while boring, resembled the original from 1989. The one above is from the rerelease. It's the one I find most stunning.

I hope they don't use this song for Princess Jasmine in the Broadway version of Aladdin. "Call me a princess." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lsC98YQb6vMe
Am I the only one who has no interest in this?

For as much crap as Disney Theatricals takes from people on this board and the alleged "elite" of the theatre community, their shows are often the most-talked about, buzzed, speculated, and anticipated on these boards and in the community at large....

I'm completely with best12bars here,
I love that movie poster and that princess jasmine pic looks beautiful. I feel that they should choose a more realistic, mature approach for the Broadway show.
Her costume is wonderful, but the big red hat on Aladdin is too cartoony for my taste. I'm afraid they will go for the caricature look though, as they already present is as a "comedy"".

That's probably because they have gone farther back and restored a lot of the Hope/Crosby road show feel that the film was originally modeled after (putting the three friends back in, for example).
Not a fan of the logo. I certainly hope the set and costumes have a better design.
And while I love Aladdin, I can't help to think that they will never pull this off on Broadway. I hope they prove me wrong...I doubt they will.
