ph my good lord how old is that picture?!?!? hahahah, uncle shannon looks so young!!!!!!! hahahahahahahahahahahaha. He's a drumer, he does play in her band, and also played drums on her first solo cd "Everyhting's FIne".
Manager/producer/publicist or something, I could imagine, doesn't want her to do it as they might think it gives her a 'bad' image.
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
Really? You think it's a producer/publicist issue? I just assumed she was sick of the "Why don't you make any sense?" and "you are so crazy!!!!!" comments.
Hmm maybe. If that were the case it would seem like an odd way to exit though,
Though if it were the case that it was a producer/publicist issue, then you would think she would drop the 'crazyness' for the final video, to restore (if she has it in her :P) an image of sanity.
I'm not sure now.

The main reason I don't think it's a producer issue is she seems almost bitter or something in the video she made before it. I would think that she would be much more professional about it if her superiors were shutting it down.
It does sound from how she said it that she was told to stop, but I don't see why. They were unusual (and entertaining), but I don't think there wasn't offensive or harmful about them. Oh well.

No one wants their employee (or FUTURE employee) to appear "out there". In Spring Awakening, the adult woman undertstudy was told to stop her blog about her exboyfriend and his new girlfriend. She almost lost her job over it. She, indeed, seemed "crazy" and irrational.
If it affects her professional appearance, they can tell/ask her to knock it off.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
Someone is clearly making her do this. She acknowledges that "her ideas" (so this is a character, as anyone with a brain could figure out) are being compromised to "compensate for somebody else's lack of understanding."
She certainly isn't happy about having to do this, either.
Perhaps someone felt it came off that she was of some off-color religion, or that it was Satanic? They, like I, must have forgotten about that Rocky Horror revival.
