I like a lot of Alice Cooper's music "School's Out," "You and Me," "Only Women Bleed," just a few of his best. But Emily Dickinson was a brilliant poet...that's a tough one.

Love 'em both for different reasons. Alice has that high, piercing belt but can also do the legit lyric soprano thing. Emily really can't get those same notes, but she has that brassy, sassy voice and attitude.
I love their two duets CDs!

Some say Emily's the better actress, Alice the better "diva." who knows? I like 'em separately (saw Alice play the mom in "Tommy" and Em in "Full Monty"), and together, joined at the hip as it were. Get both duet CDs. They are full of small treasures.

And be sure to listen for the "hidden tracks" at the end of both CD's. Hilarious!

I don't think I can pick who I like better. For me personally, they just go together like green eggs and ham.

I love both of them, but I ABSOLUETELY LOVE Alice. To be able to write her own music and perform is awesome. She is SO DOWN TO EARTH, and SO NOT A DIVA! I can't wait to see her this weekend in the LA Cy Coleman event.

Emily. Alice is a little too shrieky for my tastes. I love both of thier cds though and I love Emily's solo cd.

"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!" Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!

Emily. Her voice is a bit more versatile than Alice's. Don't get me wrong, I love Alice's voice, it's strong and beautiful, but I think Emily's voice is a little bit more 'expressive'. I love her "The Money Tree" - SO much better than Liza's original!

"Emily....she's a mess!"

Was that really necessary?

They're two completely different people and talents. Why does one have to have a preference and not just enjoy them both for the different qualities they possess?

I feel they both bring very unique talents to the table and are both very down to earth, awesome individuals. One may be more your 'cup of tea', and that's cool, but why compare?

Rock on.

Thanks you, Daisy!

Would Emily mind if I chat with her at the stage door?

PS: I would just like to say that I'm shocked Emily got more 'votes' than Alice on this thread. Who knew she still had fans? (I mean, that aren't old men in suspenders, of course...)

Where are all of Alice's groupies?! Wait... did hell freeze over and I missed it???

Ya know, Alice Ripley and Emily Skinner did one friggin show together, and one duets album, but they are individual people with their own careers! It's bad enough that they had to share a Tony nomination...

#22re: Alice or Emily

Three recordings- the two duet albums and Side Show...

#23re: Alice or Emily

Actually FOUR recordings... Alice is on three tracks on Em's self titled solo album.

They also sang together on Elegies for Angels Punks and Raging Queens and Our Hearts Sing.

And they did not do ONE 'freakin show' together. In fact they did TWO Broadway shows together -- The Dead (off AND on Broadway) and Side Show -- as well as a REGIONAL show, Company, at the Kennedy Center, in which they, once AGAIN, sang together.

They totally did it to themselves. Everyone was pushing the gimmick... they should have put their foot down and said, "NO, I will *not* sing with her again!!!! Come back to me in ten years when we finally have separate careers... or at least ones people RECOGNIZE as separate!" I actually think that's the point they're at now... praise the Lord above.

They so AIN'T one though they're two... ppsssh! Liars! Seriously. re: Alice or Emily

Didn't they sing together at the Dreamgirls concert, too?

If so, chalk up another performance and recording.
