PLEASE tell me my husband and I aren't the only ones who thought their version of Nowadays and Hot Honey Rag was TERRIBLE! The singing was mediocre at best, but the dancing was downright horrible. The camerawork seemed deliberately choppy...cutting away to spare us the clumsy duo's clunky, out of synch missteps. They couldn't seem to decide whether or not to attempt to pull off Fosse's iconic choreography or to just dance around in a misguided flapper style. Lea's knock knees and Gwyneth's barely lifting her feet to kick...they should be mortified. This mess is right up there with the Michelle Masacre of Rain on My Parade at the Tonys.

I thought it was kinda cute, it was no OBC, but it was cute. But, what do I know- I can't even get a husband to watch Glee with.

It wasnt the best but it was not terrible at all, all the Glee hate is so dull. Yes the show is camp as knickers and the storylines thin but its great fun. Also i thought the episode before that one was stunning, especially with everything what's going on right now with gay teens taking their own lives.

LOLOLOL Maybe "horrified" was too melodramatic a word choice. And I guess I should've first stated that I LIKE the show, and have two official Gleek daughters (though they are losing patience with alot of the antics, like the entire Mr. Shu's wife crap storyline and the blond Cheerio's mentally challenged schtick)). Perhaps, regarding the musical number, words like "conceit" and "misplaced confidence" would've been better.

It made me wish Gweneth was cast as Roxie in the film, so I wouldn't have t put up with skeletor.

There are better things in the world to be "horrified" over. I thought the number was cute and I was pretty amused that they cut it in a way that tried to hide the fact that neither of them are the best dancers. That gave me a few chuckles.

like the entire Mr. Shu's wife crap storyline

I have no issue with that storyline - especially with the fact that his ex has been on what once - twice this season. It's not uncommon for people to have some trouble breaking away from each other after a divorce. It's not a huge stretch by any means.

blond Cheerio's mentally challenged schtick

She has some of the best lines on the show.

I didn't care for it because it was another example of Glee attempting to do a number without bringing anything original to it. Same with the Make 'Em Laugh sequence. Both of those numbers in those episodes were just pale, less good, imitations of the originals and did nothing to improve upon them. I wasn't crazy about the last number, but there at last they were doing something new with "Singin' in the Rain" instead of just recreating a famous number less impressively than originally done. So that was my beef with Nowadays and Make 'Em Laugh. Not horrified, just disappointed that they couldn't do anything new.

Their routine was Tony-worthy in comparison to Bristol Palin's Cell Block Tango on Dancing with the Stars last night. Now that was horrific.

It was better then Bristol Palin doing DREAMGIRLS on Dancing with the Stars. I mean really... Steppin' to the Badside? YULKS!

"Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around."

I was a bit horrified at seeing guns, albeit red prop guns, at the end of the number in a school setting. I thought it was slightly in poor taste.

It was cute, but I cant stand any scenes with Lea.

Im not a Glee hater, I enjoy the story arcs and popularising the musical, I just cant stand all the autotuning and terrible "lipsing"

I think I would have liked it more if Lea and Gwyneth weren't singing it. I personally hate Lea's belt - she forces something that's not even there. And I think the hype about Gwyneth being a singer is overdone. I think she sounds like Justin Bieber, personally...

"The camerawork seemed deliberately choppy...cutting away to spare us the clumsy duo's clunky, out of synch missteps."

That's an odd thing to critique considering the entire "Chicago" film was shot and edited that way. I actually liked "Chicago" but thought Marshall shot and edited it with the subtlety of Michael Bay's Cuisinart, never giving us the chance to actually SEE any dancing shots for more than 2 seconds.

Um...it's Glee. The show requires a suspension of disbelief that is not normally required of most comedy series, especially ones that have run out of ideas and plots and rely heavily on any reason to incorporate a musical number with outrageous production values. Seriously, if you can buy the crazy lighting and pyrotechnics of the Chicago number in the school auditorium, then you can probably get over the choreography and execution. And it's not like you paid for premium seats, so the level of expectation should be rather minimal.

The dumb blonde cheerleader is really the only reason I watch the show any more. She's the funniest actress on TV right now.

I'm confused...
A show that, albeit in a non-realistic way, depicts a high school Glee club doing 'Glee club sctick' is supposed to show said high schoolers improving classic numbers and outshine the original Broadway / film stars of two classic properties? The show gets ripped her when it shows something unrealist for a high school, yet when it goes to what would be a high school like imitation, it gets ripped for doing THAT? Seriously? Can people never be happy? Yes, Lea Michele is awful - independant of Glee - and yes, it paled to the originals, but what high school wouldn't? And people here seriously think that high schools don't copy things from the originals like that? It happens every day.. Just YouTube it. People just want something to complain about..
I'm also not sure what was so innapropriate about bright red prop guns... heaven forbid. Over sensitive much?

I agree broadwayguy2. I just wished people accepted the show for what it is. It's supposed to celebrate and make people recognize some beautiful music that is being overshadowed by the Billboard Top 40. Its a good show and there *is* some talent on there, beyond our over-the-top leading lady.

When I was in high school we had a cap gun in Oklahoma and it was actually fired - twice.

Using guns in a number when the number calls for it is not in poor taste. What happens when the school does Annie Get Your Gun?

THIS IS THE SAME THING.
