If anyone sees Oh, Hello shirts that are NOT the black ones with the logo/duo, I’d love to know! Could only find those, which I already have.
Thus far I’ve picked up an Oh, Hello magnet, a SpongeBob program, a Three Tall Women glass, a promotional Lobby Hero script, and an Angels in America cup to fill out my mementoes from the past year. Also won Newsical (meh) tickets from Tik a Pik. I don’t have patience for Playbill bins. The crowds are a nightmare right now.
I just got back from my first Broadway Flea. I didn't get much, but what I did get was really special and I decided to call it quits at noon before I spent too much money.
I got Playbills from: Gypsy (OBC) Hello, Dolly! (OBC) Company (OBC) A Little Night Music (OBC) Cabaret (OBC) Assassins (Playwrights) Caroline, or Change (OBC)
Dancers over 40 had some incredible stuff and they still did when I left.
I also could only stick around for about an hour when it first opened. I got a Hello, Dolly! Water Bottle, Hat, and flip book, and a The Last Ship baseball cap and sweatshirt, all for $30.
For the past 5 fleas I’ve been looking for a “Sally Marr...and her escorts” window card and one of the tables had one for $20, but another guy beat me to it by about 10 seconds. So that was devastating, lol. The Triton table has a Carrie window card, but at $110 it was a little out of my budget this year, but a great price for such a treasure.

Yeah, I had to get out of there! So. Many. People. At least it’s not miserably hot like it was last year. I was considering going back later but after 3 hours and $42 spent, I’m calling it a day. I don’t have the patience for playbill bins either. Really wanted a water bottle or mug of some kind but many tables were pricing them at $15.
It is a strange crowd. Like some tables I got through right away on. Some, like Mean Girls, was mobbed. It is crowded, but more tolerable than last year. I'm not just saying it to be nice because I get anxiety attacks if I start feeling crammed and I also started the day not feeling well. I think not having insane lines for certain tables is helping that a little. I am not looking for playbills and windowcards though, so maybe that's why I'm not feeling so overwhelmed with searching.

I was there this morning and the crowds were terrible and very poorly behaved. I witnessed one woman screaming at someone. I luckily still managed to grab six posters and three magnets, but I was in and out od there in under 45 minutes. It's truly a mob scene.

It’s a weird flea market. Not a lot of great finds this year. It’s crowded but doesn’t seem as insane as most years, maybe because there’s not a lot of things to get. But I found my Groundhog Day stuffed groundhog so I’m good.
Yeah, I’d agree that there weren’t a ton of super exciting or rare finds. Spotted some original Millie merch this morning that I hope found a good home. I also hope Comet fans found the show mugs. I picked up some stuff from last season then hunted for a couple of specific things. Couldn’t find an unsigned copy of Angels in America which was odd. Could only find one type of shirt, plus magnets and window cards for Oh, Hello, aka the merch I already own.
if anyone spots a Mothers & Sons milk bottle will you grab it for me, i got mine all the way home (after getting it signed by Tyne at her table) before accidently smashing it there were a few floating around
The Producers (OBC), The Wild Party (Lippa Original Cast), Miss Saigon (Lea Salonga), Anything Goes (Patti LuPone), Assassins (Original Cast), Gypsy (Patti LuPone), The Secret Garden (OBC), Pippin (Mostly OBC), Mean Girls (Pre-Broadway), Miss Saigon (Original Replacement Cast), Parade (OBC), The Civil War (OBC), Guy And Dolls (1992), A Doll's House Part 2, The King and I (Faith Prince), The King and I (Donna Murphy), Blood Brothers (OBC), A Funny Thing Happened... (OBC), Gypsy (Tyne Daly), Ragtime (Mostly OBC), The Scottsboro Boys, Passion (OBC), Dreamgirls (Replacement Cast), Kiss Of The Spiderwoman (OBC), Phantom Of The Opera (30th Anniversary Playbill), Equus (Daniel Radcliffe), The Color Purple (OBC), Jekyll and Hyde (OBC).
If you wanted anything pre-2010 this year you were pretty much out of luck. Besides the odd item here and there, it was a lot of the same and the same seemed extremely overpriced and even as of a couple minutes ago, tables (I’m looking at you Head Over Heels & Pretty Woman) who were charging one price for an item at 10am are still charging that or asking even more now. It’s like this is these people’s first time at a flea market. And I’m noticing a lot of tables asking just stupid prices for things and then when someone says “thank you” or “can you go down to X” just getting a snarky “No, this is for CHARITY”. And yeah it is, but it’s also a FLEA MARKET. Y’all set those prices yourself, it in no way means that item is worth the Pie-In-The-Sky price you picked out of your ass for it. Some tables like Anastasia did it right - they realized they started too high so they lowered and then sold out of those items, thus making money for BC/EFA, while the other tables will just be lugging their stuff back with them because they don’t know what they’re doing.
Where are the bargain reports? The one time I went, I got several (that I haven't worn to this day) show baseball caps, show magnets and cds for $1 each or less. Before anybody says it, that is the price they told me.....not what I asked for them to sell to me.
Found a couple things I wanted. It felt like there were a great deal of things that were overpriced this year (especially signed merchandise) and it looks like DEH and Hamilton didn’t attract the kind of audience that they had at past fleas. A majority of their merch still remained at the end (which is counterproductive when the goal is to sell and raise money). But, here are my best finds:
1. An original “Wildcat” playbill from Lucille Ball’s ONLY Broadway show (I had been looking for it at the flea for the past 4 years) - $5
2. Opening Night playbill from Wicked (I had opened it to find Idina and Kristin’s names in it, but didn’t realize that it was an opening night until I brought it home). -$3
3. Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark production polo shirt that fits me PERFECTLY.
4. An Act of God opening night prayer candle featuring Sean Hayes
5. My Fair Lady (2017) opening night handkerchief.
"Mostly, I loved the size of these people's emotions. Nobody has emotions this size anymore. Outsized emotions. Operatic emotions. Kushemski and Vanda are like Tristan and Isolde, they're Paolo and Francesca. Nobody's in total thrall like this anymore. Nobody's overcome by passion like this, or goes through this kind of rage." Thomas, Venus in Fur
It was crowded but fun! I got there at around 9:30, but didn’t realize the tables would already be up and running by that point.
I ended up with some paper props from Les Mis and Something Rotten (signed), nameplates from Angels in America, an Amélie mug, a Hello Dolly glass, a Broadway Barks shirt, and an accidental OOTI goat plush (I feel like every table had some sort of OOTI merch).
I also tried my hand at pick-a-tik but didn’t win!
The best bargains I found were the HELLO DOLLY program/book & flip book, together for $10. I got some other stuff (mainly posters that I’ve wanted) and a GROUNDHOG DAY script (FINALLY) and my little stuffed groundhog and finally got Tyne to sign my GYPSY poster (Tyne said “Do you want me or Patti to sign it and I’m like “Uh...it’s got your face and name on it, so....you?”)

Tyne really has a funny sense of humor. I was visiting when Gypsy was on. I had just came from the dress rehearsal of Night of a Hundred Stars and was walking by the theater way past the matinee. We actually ran right into each other on the sidewalk. Then I realized who it was. She stated "you must really be happy to meet me, you're blushing." I told her I lived in Florida and it was a sunburn. She spent the next three minutes telling me what I should put on my face and how bad the sun was for me. Extremely nice lady.
