Does an audition notice mean the people who played them previously aren't coming back?
I'm assuming not since every single position is open, but also why even audition if they already have some cast returning?

No. When Hadestown re-opened there was an audition notice, and 5/8 of the main cast returned.

The show officially closed, ending every single contract. None of the actors are guaranteed to return to their role.

But if she comes back, I hope they encourage her to sing it “crazy” as opposed to “nice;” she sings conventionally on the cast album but on the bootleg she adds some feral howls and screams to her vocals. It’s terrifying from a safety perspective but I’ve never heard anyone else on Broadway go “there” vocally.

If this were any other show and not Beetlejuice, I'm sure it would be a no from everyone. But Beetlejuice is a pop culture and social media sensation first, a Broadway musical second. I can see them trying to bring her in for the film just to get "the leads from the record" back together. Especially since she's headlining a Paul Feig series for Netflix now and seems to be rising as a model. It's not like she's Lea Michele toxic- something ****ty happened but we don't really know what, but she hasn't built a career out of burning bridges yet.
We've got four variables for Lydia: Sophia comes back, they stunt cast the role, a former Lydia like Presley gets it, or it's a relatively fresh faced unknown. I'm not an original cast stan, I have no real dog in the race; but I just think it's a fun tidbit that Sophia is the only woman (MAYBE only person period) to do legitimate, authentic death-metal screaming in a Broadway show... whether or not she was supposed to.

While nobody technically knows the reason for her swift departure, it's worth remembering that she left very suddenly and not with a good reputation. I don't believe she'd be invited back.

The explanation was (allegedly) that she wanted to pursue with TV/film work. But she hasn’t actually done much in that field, so…maybe she thought she could leave Beetlejuice for another project, but didn’t get it.

How on earth does saying that count as troll activity? I don't remember posting it, but if I did, so what? Expecting a show that closed not to come back is a fairly logical assumption. It can also be wrong. I can actually handle being wrong. It seems you can't.
I've also said over and over that no one should be dumping on fans for wanting it back and that if people are "tired" of having fans ask if it might return, maybe they should just stay out of the thread. I've made such comments over and over. Odd that you ignore that.
Guess you have to ignore that, though, because you need whoever didn't think the show would return to be a mean old troll. Sounds like maybe you're the one trolling.

Audition notice is available - it's being listed as an open-ended run (I know there was speculation on here about other shows going into the Marquis and this being a short run), and the casting call includes all principals. I'm curious what the casting will end up looking like.
