Well since Hilty's show was not picked up by ABC her schedule must be open.

He just made a little cameo in the opening bit with Borle and Messing. It was cute.

I loved it! It really made me wish they had a book written to make it a full show.

Hilty told me when I went to her concert this past year that they are looking for a timeframe for Gentlemen Perfer Blondes. Hope it happens! She said she would be at City Center again (in the time slot of The Band Wagon last year and the Sondheim show the year prior) but did not say in what.

Excellent recap, gstrus! All you forgot was...Wesley Taylor!
It was an evening of goddesses.
Megan Hilty...goddess.
Donna McKechnie...goddess.
Debra Messing...goddess.
Ann Harada...goddess.
Jeremy Jordan...goddess.
No scarf for Cousin Debbie. After Debra Messing and Christian Borle gave a brief but polite shout-out to Theresa Rebeck, it was as if the concert were being done in an alternate universe in which only the good things about Smash (i.e., the musical numbers) existed.
Everything we hate-watched...was gone! It was just 2 1/2 hours (counting the Intermission) of showstoppers, performed by phenomenally gifted people.
And written by the two biggest goddesses in the bunch: Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman.

If anyone who was there happened to grab an extra playbill, I would love to buy it from you! A couple have popped up on ebay, but I'm not paying $30. I'm also looking for a window card if anyone knows where I could find one :).

I truly hope that this benefit concert pushes the right people to at least (re)look into making this into a full-scale musical...the music and talent that's been involved thus far has truly been insane and I'd hate to only relive the show through memories of tonight's concert and the snippets from the infamous TV show.

I still don't understand what "union regulations" or "logistics" prevented them from doing the show more than once or them recording it...seems like a load of BS to me.

"No Love for Kat, Joey? Is she as bland on stage as on screen?"
Actually, "Kat" is better live on stage than she is on screen.
I should have included her in my list of goddesses. I'm usually averse to putting female performers against each other: Ethel vs. Mary, Patti vs. Bernadette, Idina vs. Kristin, Kelli vs. Kristin...that sort of thing. I find it misogynistic.
But since the show actually did that and made it part of the plot, I feel that I can legitimately declare myself not only Team Ivy but Team Megan.
There is a certain zing or charisma or electric quality (or neediness) that certain stage performers or musical performers or comedy performers (or dramatic performers) can have that I respond to. Katherine McPhee has a beautiful and sometimes exciting voice, but she does not want me to love her or need me to love her or force me to love her...
I don't know exactly what it is. But every performer on that stage had it. Except "Kat."
(Now I feel awful.)

There is no need for you to feel awful, there are certain singers/performers who just have the "it" factor and in your opinion she does not. She is a beautiful woman and has a gorgeous voice for certain songs. Her AI rendition of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" was truly memorable IMO.
For example, Sinatra did not have the greatest voice of all time but how he conveyed a song was just incredible, he had charisma in spades - lol

I know it is not a musical show but Ms. McPhee has improved and is doing a better acting job on "Scorpion" IMO.

They could not have done a second show because last night Christian, Debra, and Brian were all at the Tony Awards. I think that trumps this concert, despite how great it was. The Lion King also needed the theater back for tonight.
And despite popular belief, it does cost a lot of money to film shows. You also have to have a lot of equipment set up. And to make it look good they would need to do run throughs of the entire show, which apparently they only got into the theater yesterday. I can guarantee the rehearsals for stuff like the Tonys are probably more for the camera crews instead of the performers or presenters. If they were to record this for public view, I would rather them take their time to put out a good product instead of doing a half ass job just to please people. I'm sure if things went wrong and this got televised, people would bitch and complain and be unsatisfied.

Something tells me that this won't have been the last of Bombshell.
Whether a Broadway show or a TV musical, or just a DVD release, the reaction was so overwhelming that something will come next.
