These grosses are amazing considering the horrendous air quality in NYC last Wednesday-Friday.

Why is Funny Girls grosses so disproportionately bad compared to others? They still did 8 shows, yet seem worse than shows that did 7. Did they have more people not show up compared to other shows?

Lea was on vacation last week
I was expecting more drops with the air quality issues. I thought maybe that would have hurt day-of/TKTS sales. Hopefully this is a good sign for nice post-Tonys bumps next week!

Some Like It Hot, & Juliet and Beautiful Noise are doing great.
I'm worried about Shucked and Kimberly.
Hopefully KA's Tony wins will help turn around the box office in the coming weeks! I certainly hope so.

Shucked made money last week and its grosses only fell by $7K despite playing one less WEEKEND performance. Kimberly Akimbo' s grosses rose $8.5K despite playing one less WEEKEND performance. Meaning that each show sold an additional $12K and $10.5K in tickets per performance per performance respectively. If we assume that this should be the floor for demand this week being its the week after the Tony's Shucked and Kimberly Akimbo should see grosses jump at least $100K and $75K.
The two main take away from this weeks grosses are how long are Life of Pi's producers going to wait to see if they get Tony winning production bump and if New York, New York, can manage to stop the bleeding.
We've seen time and time again that most Tonys - especially tech awards -- don't effect ticket sales. Best Musical nearly always makes a difference and often Best Play and Best Musical Revival help - but not as significantly as new musical.
Despite the air quality midweek, the city was packed this weekend. Impressive numbers for most.
New York, New York literally got outgrossed by a one woman play in a house close to half the size. That…does not bode well at all.
Be sure to take note which shows played 7 performances, folks.
This coming week will be the first indication of how much the Tonys can help certain shows.
If NYNY can sustain that number it could last through the summer, maybe January, but will never return a nickel to its investors. That $25M budget is an eyewatering sum.
Anyone know if DOLL's HOUSE recouped ahead of its closing on Sunday? (I am aware it did not announce recoupment.)

Why? Those are the two I'm not worried about... both should see bumps in the next few weeks. I'm more interested in how Shucked tours. Will they try to find a "Alex Newell" type or go a different route? Like what Oklahoma did?
I know Kimberly Akimbo's weekly nut is somewhat low, but what about Shucked's? Definitely got New York, New York pegged as the first post-Tony Awards casualty.
I would question the producer's sanity and producing ability if Shucked cost more than $600,000-700,000 per week. I really have no idea though.

Or Life of Pi.
OUAOMT isn't doing great either. I'm interested in what the gross and word of mouth of Here Lies Love is going to be when it starts this weekend. Hit, flop or middle of the pack?

I believe someone posted a while ago that KA's nut was $480K.

I hope life of Pi runs long enough for me to see it. I was shocked it didn't get nominated for best play especially given the technical awards and winning in London. It seems like a recipe for expensive to get cut off though.

It's difficult to do broadway these days, because a small show in such a mall house costing almost 600k is insane.

I have been told by those involved Shucked its operating costs are around $630K and Kimberly Akimbo's are $540K, when they spend money on advertising.

What's crazy is 13 years ago Next to Normal led by the same producing team played the same theater and only cost around $250K a week to operate. Note I acknowledge Kimberly Akimbo has 3 additional principal cast members, 2 additional understudies/standbys, and 2 additional musicians, but even with the 7 additional heads, its crazy costs have risen somewhere between 116%-128% in 13 years.
It also has a much busier set with a trap door, etc. Next to Normal is a pretty small, simple show. But yeah that is crazy numbers wise. If the smallest theater on Broadway has to pull in half a mill to just break even.
