Click below to access all the Broadway grosses from all the shows for the week ending 9/10/2023 in BroadwayWorld's grosses section.
Also, you will find information on each show's historical grosses, cumulative grosses and other statistics on how each show stacked up this week and in the past.
Yeah grosses are down, but I guess capacity will be the indicator these couple weeks to see if Broadway Week manages to get more butts in seats and possibly spread word of mouth to generate more interest. Of the musicals, Some Like it Hot and Here Lies Love seem to be struggling the most in this area, and while the capacity for A Beautiful Noise is somewhat low, their grosses managed to go up so maybe the new schedule is working for them, but it might be too early to say for sure just yet.

Just because Here Lies Love likely won’t survive much longer doesn’t mean it won’t be remembered come Tony season. Look at KPOP and Ain’t No Mo’.
But HERE LIES LOVE … unlike some recent winners of best musical is an event. It could benefit SO much from being fully recognized come award season. After having seen the notebook in Chicago & listening to the score of Lempicka. I feel this is the show to beat.
Here Lies Love deserves better but it seems like producers took the offer of an available theatre in summer (meaning they'd have to wait almost a year for any awards bumps) and I guess assuming "written by David Byrne" had the same box office draw as "see Byrne sing his greatest hits on stage."
Are there any major Filipinos stars with a huge box office draw? Like pop star or mega star level not just Darren Criss level.
I’d agree! I wonder what their reasoning was for starting so early? I’d imagine if they opened right before the cut off and came in and sweeped the awards they’d be rocking. But now they have to limp along to awards season
I was surprised to see Chicago have a higher weekly gross than Hadestown.
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

off the top of my head, Bruno Mars and Vanessa Hudgens both have Filipino backgrounds and are pop stars. Vanessa wasn’t really much of a draw in her last broadway outing though… and Bruno Mars has his Las Vegas residency.

Bway Week indicates what shows have actual interest from a sustainable number of buyers. Any show under like 85% capacity should be concerned for the months ahead.
Those HLL numbers are awful and unless they can rapidly turn things around I fear it doesn’t even make it to thanksgiving? It may be past the point of salvaging on the level that they require, and Tony noms or wins are little consolation when a show fails that massively.
PURLIE, as anticipated, off to a ROUGH start. Definitely a lot of comps this first week since the audience (as far as I saw) was remarkably more full than what was sold on Telecharge.
A lot of black celebrities and theatre performers also seemed to have gone this week and posted about it, maybe to help drum up the word?

Terrible start for Purlie Victorious, and the shark is broken does not seem to find its audience. I know it's a limited run but I would not be surprised if it closes early
HLL is on its way to closing soon, same as SLH. I wouldn't rule out KA closing as well soon
I still say that A Beautiful Noise will end up as the longest running new musical from the 2022-23 season.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
At this point, it may be a matter of which relatively-recent shows decide to keep running at a loss until January, and which productions are smart enough to stop further bleeding before then.
The jury's not out yet on SIX and & Juliet, but their numbers are softening.

SIX is not losing life any time soon. It’s cheap to run and when the Broadway money dries up, it can reopen at NWS. & JULIET has a bit of space for stunt casting (TBH, so does SIX) and will likely deploy that option in case grosses really start to sag

And if that prolonged sagging eventually occurs, let's see if & Juliet has the guts to utilize their aces in the hole for stunt-casting — which would ideally mean the show would close on an unthinkable, unbelievable high at the end of their contracts.

Making it to thanksgiving…try beginning of October!
Just a reminder that the Broadway week BOGO offer wasn't valid for any matinees for A Beautiful Noise.
