Jake, Equity/Agent or Open actor? -- I was there for entire equity/agent process in the afternoon. They had a handful of open actors that were called back from the morning session. According to these actors, some of the others from the morning (ensemble) auditions were scheduled for initial principal auditions 2 weeks from now becuase time did not permit bringing them into afternoon slots.

How cool is that to have been to the Principal calls today and already be asked back for a second Principal call -- major congrats -- that's the first one that I've heard of yet!!!

Lots of my friends are going to the inital open principal call on 14th, so when are the secondary principal callbacks being held? What role? Let us know how it goes....

I went. My friend and I got there a little before 7:30 and our audition time wasn't until 4:00. it was insane. i went home and came back, and hit traffic on my way back in and didn't end up arriving until 4:10, but it was fine. they seemed to be really organized. i got to sing, and i actually sang 32 bars, so im thinking thats a good sign. i didnt get a callback, but the lady asked me a bunch of questions like where i go to school and if i consider myself a dancer. i heard ensemble callbacks are in a few weeks...anyone know anything about this?

I went to the audition too on the 4th and got a callback even though I don't know how I did on the reading. Do you know if there will be an ensemble callback? Is it possible to get in the ensemble even if I get turned down fora Hugo?
Thanks

So they will be holding another open audition (for principals) on the 14th?

well i have heard there are multiple.

i went to the open call on the 4th, got a callback for hugo and was told to come back on the 14th. but my friend who got called back for ursula was told to come back on the 16th.

the sides they gave the "hugos" was a scene between him and kim...so im assuming they will be seeing kims and hugos on the 14th and conrads and ursulas on the 16th (?). who knows?!

anyone know how many they are planning on casting?!

When I emailed Roundabout Theatre, they said they are looking to cast no more than 10 teens. An in reply to your comment, yesterday, the 5th, they were having callbacks for hugo, ursula, and kim as well.

Does anybody know if there will be anything for an ensemble?

Anyone know of another open call date, or EPA/equity chorus call date...because luckily i am an EMC. I decided I want to audition for a teen, but I will only be turning 15 in May. My manager isn't sending me in.

Thanks :)

Imatoofbrush:
Nope, no info on callbacks yet from any of equity/agent friends (kims/hugos -- no ursulas) plus 1 dancer. Still lots of initials to go through -- the open call was huge! It was really cool to see so many people come from around the country...pretty unbelievable.

I'm surprised about the 10 teen limit, does anyone know if this includes principals and dancers, or just referring to teen ensemble?

Also, has anyone been to the ECC dance callback yet? I originally came through that call....so I'm just wondering about the outcome.

I'm not feeling like it's my time on this one, but will certainly let you know if I hear anything.

the people who were called back on saturday were called back for Hugo & ursela and given sides for these parts
these parts are already cast so theyre really just being clled back for ensemble members

My friend went back on Sunday to read for Hugo and then met the producers...he was told he should hear something in a week or 2...he was also told 1300 auditioned on Saturday and only 65 were called back

If the people reading are being called back for ensemble members, are they having them dance too? It seems like they are looking for a Hugo, Kim, and Ursula since the casting for those roles hasn't been announced yet.

Even, if Hugo is cast, he'll need an understudy or two that could come from an open call. Sadly, despite the fact that I've been told I look 16-17, I was out of their audition age range.

Good luck to those called back! Curious to see if anyone here ends up on stage come Fall. (And 65 called back from 1300 - impressive if you got past that!)

so if we didn't get a callback on saturday, we're not getting a callback ever? it just seems weird to me that they'd let me sing 32 bars at 4:30 in the afternoon and ask me a bunch of questions but have no interest in even calling me back...

I've been to plenty of auditions where I really thought I've nailed it or got to sing a few extra bars, and then heard nothing. It's not out of the ordinary and it happens all the time. Don't stress about it.

lol i know how Broadway works, but i don't understand why they'd waste their own time when they had 1200 people to see, and everyone else i've talked to only got to sing 16 bars.

Maybe they liked your voice, or maybe your cut was shorter than most 32 bar cuts. But liking your voice doesn't necessarily make you right for the show.
