FYI - Caught Wesley Taylor's solo cabaret show at Signature Theater in Virginia on Saturday. He was terrific! His final song was "Not Getting Married Today". He dedicated it to his fiance.

Posted: 8/5/19 at 3:03pmI think the most likely choice is Jessie Mueller. She hasn’t been in a show since Carousel, won a Tony in 2014, and seems like a natural fit for the part (she’s in the correct age range, has a killer belt, and is a very versatile actress). Even if she doesn’t get the part, I have a hard time believing she hasn’t at least been considered.

If LuPone doesn't transfer, I'd give a kidney to see Christine Baranski take on the role of Joanne.

Dear God, YES!!!

Posted: 8/12/19 at 12:12pmRemember, Sondheim has always had a preference for actors who can sing over actors with perfect singing voices. I wouldn’t expect a very strong singing actress like Mueller. The current rumor points to a unique actress with an unusual yet pleasant singing voice.

There's nothing worse on this site when people express "rumors" without providing who they are talking about.

At first I was very skeptical about the suggestion at first, but now I cannot stop thinking about Katrina Lenk as Bobbie. She would be thrilling.

There's plenty worse on this site lol. But I agree that the supposed know-it-alls are just annoying. Unless they DM me and tell it all 😂

Obviously she’s a wonderful actress, I’m saying Sondheim is famously known for choosing actors with capable singing voices rather than exquisitely trained singers. Expect somebody like Rosalie Craig over a Mueller.

I’m not a know it all, nor do I have insider information. But rumors are 100% floating around and have been hinted to in this very thread.

Every time this thread is bumped I’m hoping there’s a new casting announcement for this! I don’t remember the last time I’ve anticipated the announcement of a show’s casting like I am with this show!
With the rumors mentioned in this thread about who will be Bobbie (Tony Winner in the last 5 years) I can see any of them being an inspired choice for the role; yet all so different. Jessie seems the most obvious choice and she would be fantastic but both Katrina and Celia are the ones that would have me the most excited/intrigued. I can’t get them out of my head. Cynthia and Lena though..... probably not for the role/productions— but the thought of both of them belting ‘Being Alive’ gives me all the feels.

Posted: 8/12/19 at 1:06pmSo is the main rumor going around that it’s a Tony winner from the last 5 years? I hadn’t read or heard that one before. Mueller has said she wants to be in a show every other season so this would line up perfectly. Man I just want some news on this!! We still don’t even know a theatre! I’d assume the Jacobs or Sondheim at this point

If the number of underscores is the number of characters in the name, and it is in fact someone who has won a Tony in the last five years, it's either Celia Keenan-Bolger, Ruthie Ann Miles, or Rachel Bay Jones
