I agree. She is a brilliant and unique actress. In another lifetime, she could've easily have been a Sondheim muse. Perfect choice, she will without a doubt deliver a daring and original performance.

I loved what you said about Sondheim having a preference to unique actresses who also have interesting singing chops. That's something I've never really thought about! Obviously Lenk's voice is lovely, but her acting is what makes her astonishing onstage. Can't wait! Thanks for all your hints
I can get behind Katrina Lenk as Bobbie. She was by far the best part of The Band's Visit (a show I didn't particularly enjoy outside of her incredible performance).
"There’s nothing quite like the power and the passion of Broadway music. "
No idea if this is true, but Katrina Lenk is such a fantastic actress that my first reaction here was "will she play Bobbi with an Israeli accent? how will that work?" I'm not sure I can visualize such a smoky, intense lead in this play- but i am confident Lenk will pull it off.
She wouldn't. You edited my quote and missed my point. Her performance as Dina was so powerful that my first inclination was to remember her in character. Of course she wouldn't actually play the role as Dina.

Apologies. I guess I did. But if your point was that’s she’s a fantastic actress then, agreed.
Still, I’ll believe this when it’s announced officially and not before.

In your defense, she did do the exact same accent on the good fight and Mrs maisel...
ha thats a great point. i dont watch good fight, but not only Maisel, she did a yiddish-european accent in Indecent. I've really never seen her do anything in plain ole american english. hope this rumor is true.

WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!...Lenk is ABSOLUTELY THE WORST CHOICE for a role that is written for a very New York City man/woman!!...i know you all loved Katrina's work in The Bands Visit, but honestly is she right for this role?...NO NO NO...please stop these rumors and pure speculation...let's just wait and see who is REALLY going to play Bobbie...Lenk as Bobbie would not get me to fly to NYC to see this Spring arrival!!

1). Hey? Have you been on the scene? Cause you look like a MESS.
2) What makes Lenk not "New York City" enough? I don't know if you know this, but New York City is made up of many different types of people. Many many different types of people. It honestly kinda sounds a little sus that you're profiling what makes a New Yorker a New Yorker, sis. Furthermore, nowhere in the text does it say that Bobbie(Bobby) was born in New York. And even if the character was, as we've established, many MANY MANY different types of people are from New York. If you're flying in, doesn't that make you not a New Yorker? Therefor... do you even have the credentials to make this crazy claim?
3) It's not rumors and pure speculation, Lenk is Bobbie no matter if you like it or not.
4) The producers don't need your money so please don't fly out to NYC to see it in the Spring because no one working on the production cares what you do and no one on this board cares what you do.
5) Lenk is a perfect choice. Mr. Sondheim thinks Lenk is the perfect choice as well. So much so that he picked her.

First off, this whole thread is rumors and speculation, why is Lenk off limits? And second Lenk is a bad choice because... she is not a "New York" woman? Hmmm...
Honestly I adored her in TBV, so if she truly does join this show, I will be thrilled. So many good choices in this thread, there is no way any of them could disappoint, but Lenk would be fantastic.
