I don't know if Legendary exists anywhere since HBO Max disappeared it a few years ago - shameful - but another one is Ryan Murphy's Pose on Hulu/Disney+ from a few years back.

Pose cribs a great deal from Paris is Burning- I'd personally skip it and just go to the source without the Ryan Murphy nonsense.
Legendary is really great if one can find it and definitely reflective of this production.

Agreed, Kad. I thought Pose was quite horrible and just stole everything from Paris is Burning anyway. The Criterion Collection included a ton of extra footage with their remaster of the film which was a real treat.

I tried to hedge my bets and got the two tickets on stools alongside the runway. Figured that way you'd feel immersed like on stage but probably have a better view than those seats facing out. We'll see I guess

Pose is a good show to forget it had anything beyond a first season.

Cribs? A word you just learned recently from Wordle?

It was also just on connections the other day, not Wordle. And suddenly there it is being used

Leiomy as Macavity is super exciting - obviously going to be a completely different take than Rodrick Covington.

Just bought front row Mezz tickets for April. I'm slightly worried about being able to see the end of the runway from up there, but I was more concerned about heads in the way sitting in the mid-orchestra. We shall see...

Pose cribs from Paris Is Burning and makes some ummm…choices in how it chooses to distribute what it cribs but I think it’s worth a watch of at least the first season. Even though that has the Evan Peters-Kate Mara “hopefully now normal people will also watch this” storyline that fell flat.
I will admit however I never watched a single episode after a certain character departed in S2. So I never saw how bad it really got.

If they're forking over $$$ isn't that the job of a producer...?

They’re not even LOOKING at their purses. If anything, money will be going out to them. It’s all just for optics.
“Can we use your good name to help us convince others to invest, and to hopefully sell some tickets? We can pay you $5000 each upfront and a few points on any profit. You may win a Tony and we’ll of course pay for your statue if that happens.”

Not always. A Strange Loop had like a million celebrity producers and it still closed at a loss. They don't make a difference in the success of a show, it's got to stand on its own. I loved A Strange Loop but recognized that it's not for everybody and won't be universally loved. I think this show is similar.

Producers don't fork over money. Producers find investors. Investors fork over money.
