Didn't The Lost Boys announce a 2026 opening at the Palace.. can't imagine QoV going there if that is the case. Though it will be free between Glengarry and The Lost Boys for something limited.

I know one of the prominent rumors is that the show would take the St. James after Sunset. Now, with Sunset closing...and another rumor that Queen Of Versailles is going there...anything new on the Chess front?"
I've not seen anything new since the comment on here that it might not be on indefinite hold but I do wonder if they might have decided to go with a smaller theatre. I always thought the St James might be a bit big for Chess but that's all pure speculation on my part.
The word I hear is that an audience favorite is about to close to make way for Chess. Guess they wanna get the last bit of coin they can out of the one who walked onstage with an AirPod in first, though...

Boy George went on stage in MR with an airpod in
So this either means that Chess is taking the Hirschfeld or Jordan Fischer is going to be in Chess
Al H. has it!
Fisher is contracted April 15-July 20. Is the assumption that July 20 is also the closing or would they run through the rest of the summer, close late August/early September. I could see them bringing Aaron back for the final weeks. Not sure what the timeline for Chess is. November start?
In what world is Chess bigger at the box office than Moulin Rouge?

So right now is it looking like:
Al Hirshfeld Theatre
November 2025 - previews
December 2025 - opening
limited engagement to May 2026 (pending nominations?)
starring: Ramin Karimloo, Lea Michele, Jordan Fischer/Adam Lambert(?), and….

Fisher can’t sing Freddie for one rehearsal let alone an eight show week.

Switch out Jordan Fisher with Jordan Donica and it's the most perfect casting ever.

If they cast Jordan Donica, I’ll be there every day.

Maybe -- but he won't be there! Jordan D has a horrible track record of missing performances. He was out more than he was in on MY FAIR LADY (I missed him on 4 occasions) and CAMELOT (out all 3 times I went), and he missed almost the entire run of INTO THE WOODS at City Center. I guess the name "Jordan" is unlucky on Broadway?

The world where they're stacking the deck with stars as Florence and Svetlana.

I'm fascinated to see who they cast as Svetlana. Will Solea continue from the December 2022 concert as some have suggested or will it be a bigger name? Whoever it is their voice will need to blend well with Lea's for I Know Him So Well.
Of course Svetlana isn't in Act 1 and then shows up in Act 2 in with a solo (originally for Florence in the original Broadway production) and that famous duet, and plays a major part in Deal or No Deal and End Game.
I assume, if this is all true, that we won't have any announcements until Moulin Rouge announces it's closing date?
Several productions have interpolated Svetlana into Act 1 by giving her "Heaven Help My Heart" as an introducing song. That way, we don't introduce TWO new Russian leads, Svetlana and the idiot-savant chess player, in Act 2 out of nowhere.

In the 2022 concert, Svetlana was only in act 2. It's possible Danny Strong revises the book (again) and puts her in act one. But as of that concert, she only appeared in act 2.
Was not thrilled by Ramin in the concert, but I rarely am. Lea seems kind of perfectly cast. Cannot imagine Jordan Fisher has the voice for Freddie. But also really can't imagine Jordan Donica does either. Donica would be much more suited for Anatoly.

If they don't get Lambert, could Tveit pull it off?
Or could they possibly have in mind some other rock/pop singer that we're not thinking of?

My personal wish no matter how unlikely would be for Freddie to be played by Adam pascal. His voice is so perfect for the role

Nothing is stopping them from announcing a Broadway plan with some casting and a theatre tba. But it would be extremely bad form to publicly announce a theatre if the current occupant is still running and has not announced closing (I'm not sure if that's ever happened?)

Pascal's rendition of Pity the Child in the Chess concert 20+ years ago was the perfect version of that song. I expressed the same hope for Pascal to play Freddie in a much earlier thread, but as was pointed out to me, Adam has aged out of the role. Sigh.

Are we talking Broadway bigger like a Tony nominee/winner or someone who has a big profile outside of Broadway in a similar way that Lea has through her TV work?
