question about the love between wednesday and lucas. Is it passionate or the complete opposite? and could someone explain lucas's character, does he have any good songs or anything?
wsmillet: I would worry less about the squid song unless the kids pick up on innuendo, though I think they would understand what it's about, but they use foul language quite a few times. Especially Jackie Hoffman. Overrall the show has quite a few sexual moments and bad language moments. I'd rate it at least PG-13.
Possible Spoiler (answer to dulacad's question): Wesley Taylor's character (Lucas) is in love with Wednesday and vice versa. They have two duets. It's the real deal, not a one way crush or puppy love. Very cool part of the show in my opinion.
blaxx: I thought the same thing! How does one get that lucky!?
and all that I could do because of you was talk of love...
Glad Carolee and Mann have larger roles than I thought they would.
Oh keep your kids out of the theatre for this one! It's about a family fixated on death, They've always made it clear it's not the movie. I believe in taking the kids to the theatre but every major city has a professional children's theatre with a full season. Go there. I'm sick of going to an adult show and seeing kids (I know this seems cruel, but do your research before seeing the show).
I should be able to watch a good number about a squid raping Terrence Mann without worrying about a confused kid and their uncomfortable parent next to me.
This whole squid raping Terrence Mann thing is making me laugh allll over again. I was just watching an episode of the TV show where Pugsley's pet octopus gets loose.
I can't stop laughing about the squid thing either. A long time ago, a good friend of my family got attacked by a squid (was fine though) and to this day everyone calls him "squid," so it keeps reminding me of that, on top of how funny it sounds in and of itself. I can't wait to hear that song.
A brief idea of the theme/plot of the show is that Wednesday is officially a women now, is in love with a 'normal' boy from Ohio and him and his parents are invited to dinner at the Addams Family residence. How do these 'normal' folks cope with the strangness of the Addams, how does Wednesday cope with her embarrassing family, how does the family cope with the event of a daughter all grown up, how does Morticia cope with being old??
essentially something like that.

Isn't this overstating things? lol One blog said it's implied the octopus or whatever won't physically leave Mann alone--that's not quite the same as rape (and it's not all that far from some more out there sight gags in family cartoons IMHO).
If this is more akin to the original New Yorker cartoons then its definetly more morbidand grown up than the tv series and even the movies, but it's not "adult" IMHO anyway. I think most kids 8 and over within reason would be fine with the content (again from all I've read) if that's the only worry. LOL
(That said a part of me is totally enjoying that the squid/whatever song has now basically been made into the equivalent of some graphic Japanese Yaoi "tentacle rape" genre anime!) Updated On: 11/17/09 at 09:52 AM
I'm curious to know how Adam does as Pugsley. He was adorable in Shrek and had way too small of a role. How is his acting? Does he work as Pugsley?
I'm soooo excited for this show! I'm hoping to go to the opening in NYC in April of this show! :) If I can wait that long to see it! haha. I'm glad to hear that Bebe dances in it! She's bascially the reason why I want to see it. I'm dying to see her live! I love her!

I never thought I'd hear anyone say this...even on Broadwayworld. Tee-hee!
If anyone has seen the show from the Balcony, I'm just wondering what the view is like (or just views in general for this show). Any input would be awesome...How much do you really miss from the rush seats?
For those asking about the balcony, I haven't seen this particular show yet but I have sat in The Oriental balcony for other shows. It's a large theater and the balcony is quite high up, but there is no real view obstruction at all. If you don't mind being far from the stage, the balcony offers pretty decent seats. That curtain is definitely the Addams Family curtain. It does some WILD things. I'm almost positive that this curtain was built specifically for the show.
What I took away as the plot was a story of the family and the outsiders embracing their dark side. There's a really beautiful song at the end of the show called "Move Toward the Darkness" that I can't get out of my head. (It's in the overture as well) From what I remember, one of the lyrics is something like "Face your blackest demons. Love what once was vile, Move Toward the Darkness - and smile." Everyone in the play goes to a dark place in their souls, faces their fears and finds redemption. I must say, as much as I laughed - I was strangely moved. Maybe it's because I've been going through some dark stuff. Can't wait to see it again - when I can afford it.
For the Broadway prodcution, does anyone know when the Lunt-Fontanne box office will open??
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
Anyone who did student rush... how many people rushed and how early did you show up to get tickets? You never know with these out of town shows what crowds will be like. If you could respond asap that would be great!!
