Benjamin, what course of action would recommend I take to raise my concerns?
Thanks for your help.
“STFU. If you knew anything about Beyoncé or attended her recent tour, you would see how she stands up for the LGBTQ+ and has her entire life. It’s not my problem that you don’t know who Uncle Johnny is.”
Girl, two things can be true. I was at the show in club renaissance. And uncle Johnny would have died in the countries she’s accepting millions from. having a gay uncle doesn’t solve anything, but enjoy the nuance of this conversation going way over your head. Stan culture giving you brain works.
Well this thread went pretty much as predicted. Love me a good ol’ BWW online morality tournament.
If this is a morality tournament, well then I have another question to ask.
Should BroadwayWorld leave Twitter? Today Elon Musk posted his support of yet another evil man. Playbill saw the signs on the wall way back in November 2022 and said their goodbyes, maybe BroadwayWorld should follow that example.

Or (and here’s a crazy thought) maybe you just do you and let the rest of us decide what we want to be “outraged” about. Since you’re now just trolling —- maybe it’s time to end the conversation.
You've already made that point, JSquared. I heard you the first time. No need to repeat yourself. I am completely sincere in what I say, it utterly baffles me why you think I'm just trying to cause trouble. Plenty of people have deserted Twitter... it's hardly an outrageous thing to suggest. All I did is ask for opinions. You just say you disagree, instead of decreeing that the conversation must come to an end. How about you take your own advice and let people decide for themselves when they want to end it? You can bow out now if you like.

Personally, I also think it is a bit wrong to support. It’s complicated because Harry Potter means a whole lot to a lot of people… I am personally not one of those people. I also can separate art from the artist, but I don’t know.
I did end up seeing the show from a friend who ended up not going. I thought that since she already got the money… then it would be a waste to not use the ticket. It does sound a little hypocritical of me to say it too, lol.

Since everyone has limited energy, you have to decide what is the most pressing issue to tackle. Is Harry Potter or BWW on Twitter really the biggest issue right now? I think that’s why you are getting the eye roll.

Bingo!! Screw high inflation, increasing gas costs, pretty much an open border, two old men 80 years old will probably be the nominees for POTUS in 2024, crime increasing in most major cities and women's sports are being destroyed. Instead of those concerns, lets focus on "Harry Potter" author and BWW on twitter - lol.
I'm able to concentrate on more than one thing at a time. I have a big repertoire. Putting up a comment on a message board in no way means I don't also care about other "bigger" issues. That's ludicrous. This is a place to discuss Broadway, so that's what I'm doing.
With BroadwayWorld on Twitter, I'm not suggesting we stage a march on Washington. I saw it more like putting a comment into a suggestion box. Not really such a big deal, no?
If you're not interested, fine, just don't engage. What are you achieving by posting mean-spirited and belittling "smelling salts" "whining" remarks?
N.B. Women's sports are NOT being destroyed. What a hysterical response.
No one answered the Twitter question. Embarrassing. Bww, you're doing great sweetie!

No worries on that Zeppie, that won't be happening.

Ultimately- read what you want. Watch what you want. Just don't broadly advertise it otherwise you might get backlash

Now this right here, this is trolling.

I hope you are right Sutton.
Some comments here are really demonstrating the insidious effect on social discourse people like JK Rowling can have. Sad.

Was going to check in on this thread assuming that minds MUST have been changed based on the fact this thread has continued to grow, but I see we've now moved on to canceling Beyonce! Whew.

If they're moving on to Beyonce I'm assuming now no one is safe from being cancelled, so might as well support whatever theatrical venture you want lmao

Causation about what or who is influencing comments here (or anywhere) isn't proven just because someone suggests it.

People do not have to be influenced by JK Rowling or even know who she is in order to have a common sense and an opinion based on it.

You can have an opinion but don't tell people whether or not they should see a show. And don't cancel them just because they see it
Just for the record, I am not trying to "cancel" Saint Beyoncé. Keep streaming her music if you like, going to her shows. Just stop hailing her as an LGBT hero. She's no such thing, it was all a con.
