Am I wrong for wanting a reproduction of the original 1981 production so that this new generation can experience what we did back then?
So that they will witness what made this show so legendary?

I don’t care what they do as long as they do the original version of the score and not the updated BS to include “Listen”.

I’d love this as well. Using today’s technology but fully recreating the original production seamlessly. No LED screens, etc. The original production was already minimalistic in its set design so nothing needs to be spruced up or trimmed down. If they lavished up a little the reconstructed Act 2 opener, I wouldn’t be opposed to that.

Honestly, I would love to see that. I hate the feeling that I've seen a revival but I can't quite be sure that I've seen the same show that others have seen before me. (Also see: Follies)

If they do the recent US tour version, this will bomb, regardless of who they cast.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Tiffany was also in the ensemble of WANTED for their workshop presentations last summer. But if the rumor turns out to be true, I wouldn't be surprised if she chose DREAMGIRLS over it.

I've heard the following Tiffany Mann as Effie, Aisha Jackson as Deena, Kayla Davion as Laurel, Joshua Boone as Curtis, and Natey Jones as Jimmy.

Aisha Jackson is so unremarkable to me and I can't put my finger on why. Joy Woods would make a luminous Deena.

Joy Woods and Joshua Boone are must haves in this production for me. They are such rising stars and incredibly exciting to watch. And watching Tiffany at The Muny playing Effie was a very special experience. I hope this casting is true.

They already did a reproduction of the original in 2009, in the Apollo Theatre production that was supposed to move to Broadway but didn't. The same rights holders are responsible for the stale reproduction of A Chorus Line that landed on Broadway with a thud in 2006. No more museum pieces. Let’s have something original.

DREAMGIRLS is currently having trouble raising the money because it’s looking to be a very big budget production and a lot of investors have been getting cold feet because of recent big money failures and a very slow return on other open shows.
They have cast the principal roles though, with Effie being the only question mark because they were between two people for who will be the principal Effie:
Aisha Jackson - Deena
Kayla Davion - Lorrell
Tiffany Mann or Arica Jackson - Deena (this was the final two)
John Clay III - CC (lines up with RAGTIME closing)
Joshua Boone - Curtis (lines up with Joe Turner closing)
J. Harrison Ghee - Thunder (this lines up with their departure from HT in August)
