I really wanted the whole thing to, especially since the people who were there are saying that the song was "award worthy" and "epic". I really like how the lyrics are character driven which feels like a song from the Renaissance era. Great job Kristen Lopez. :)
The FIRST part of the opening number for Frozen just got revealed :) So beautiful. I just got even more excited for the music of this movie, even though if this is not the final version of the song.
And yes, the director, Jennifer Lee, confirmed on Twitter that this is the opening number
You can replace "Elsa" with "Elphaba" and it would be any interview from Wicked lol. Seriously, the similarities are nearly endless. Elsa was even going to be blue-skinned originally.
The trailer has been released, many Frozen merch, posters, song titles (The Anna and Elsa song is called "For The First Time in Forever"), and more interviews has been released since the time the trailer came out and there is a rumor that a third trailer will be released before the movie comes out.
A brand new trailer just came out today and it has EVERYONE, Idina, Santino, YOU NAME IT. And it has one of the songs, "For the First Time in Forever". TOO AMAZING
The song is really beautiful. By the way, Willemijn Verkaik, original german and dutch Elphaba is doing the german and dutch version of Elsa. What a coincidence.
Interesting Trailer. So its about 2 girls and one has this great power and is misunderstood by society so she leaves and becomes this powerful Sorcerer ( some might say Witch)? Hmmm I can't put my finger on it, but this sounds VAGUELY familiar...

Yeah, but Disney didn't cast Idina Menzel and give her magically misunderstood heroine/villain a big Defying Gravity-esque power ballad by accident. Disney seems obsessed with out Wicked-ing Wicked before they ever get it to the screen. Oz the Great and Powerful, now Frozen and next year's ode to misunderstood dragon bitch, Maleficent...seems like they are kind of obsessed with tapping into that phenomenon and will let nothing get in their way.
Yes, Yes, Everything Broadway Benny said. I'm sure Disney would love to get Mickey's hands all over the WICKED film rights. Them and Warner Bros have been Fighting Over the OZ Trademarks for awhile now.
Looks like typical modern Disney. Too snarky and self-aware and lacking magic.
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”

I miss the old Disney when everything didn't look so Computerized, and you didn't need 3D glasses to enjoy a film. The days when the music, lyrics and dialogue spoke for itself. The days when a beautiful love story was enough to capture the hearts of millions. I miss the old Disney with Broadway style show numbers and tour de force animation. Does Disney still have films with aspects like that? Yes, but it's not the same. Probably never will be. Excuse me while I go sob in the bathtub while listening to "A Dream is a wish your heart makes"
The old Disney? Why don't you visit a museum? Oh that's right, Disney isn't a Museum, it's an innovative business. It's very exciting to see a new renaissance of films being made (post frog). They still are using the animated formula of a Broadway musical, but still have a new feel to them. I think they have hit the mark just right with this one.
Anyone remember when this project was "loosely" based on Hans Christian Anderson's "The Snow Queen?" Well, it looks kinda Scandinavian ... and there's a reindeer ... and there's still snow ... but all of these trailers make this film look like a convoluted, snarky mess with an annoying talking snowman. It'll sell a ton of merchandise this holiday season though, but whether it goes the way of Tangled or Wreck-It Ralph remains to be seen.
