Last year’s season, including the Broadway Center Stage shows, was announced on May 7. So you may be onto something"
Is this the program that the recent Spelling Bee and Spamalot revivals came from? That Legally Blonde was supposed to play?"
Yes, those three were announced as part of Broadway Center Stage last year."
I so wish there was a way to keep the Center Stage Series alive elsewhere. It was far and away my favorite program/series and its a shame it had such a short life (if it is indeed nixed - which it seems like it is). It was such a relief when it returned post-pandemic shutdown and this recent season announcement makes me sorely miss the excitement of finding out what three shows they picked.

I don't know if it's been formally canceled, but I have to imagine they will have an incredibly difficult time finding high caliber talent willing to participate in it now.

Hooray and thank you to the Washington Performing Arts organization. I was so disheartened to see major American dance companies like ABT, NYCB, SFB, and MARTHA GRAHAM sign up for the KC next season as if nothing happened and as if they had not choice. We will not forget.

Broadway shows keep the Kennedy Center going. But will they stay away?

A question, because I don’t know the answer: Do producers of shows in the Kennedy’s Center’s current season have the option to cancel (as opposed to individual boycotts)? This would apply to Les Miz and Parade, for example. Would they have signed contracts long ago and face possible litigation if they withdrew? But what about next season? Hamilton canceled, so I assume producers of other shows, including The Outsiders, are making a decision to play there. Is that correct?

Contracts are undoubtedly already signed by the time the season is announced. The producers of Hamilton are obviously in a better position to be able to cancel. They may even still be under what is called a Four Walls contract, which is more similar to the Broadway model, where the producers of the tour are paying for everything and giving a cut to the local presenter, as opposed to the presenter paying a guarantee to the producers to bring the show in. Without seeing the contract, I would assume a Four Walls agreement is much easier for a producer to cancel an engagement with no or minimal penalty since they are footing all expenses and the presenters are essentially just providing the space

Thanks so much for posting this. I loved getting to revisit the production and hear some of the lines I missed during this scene. I had not laughed this hard in a long time.

For many of those who have been complaining about the Trump takeover at the Kennedy Center, I think it's appropriate that we at least applaud Grenell's firing of Floyd Brown for his anti-LGBT rhetoric. Perhaps the "new" Kennedy Center won't be as bad as some have speculated.

I also have a legal question. Are audiences contracted to attend any Kennedy performance under its new leadership?

Trump, Vance to attend Les Misérables opening night at Kennedy Center
Some cast members in the Les Misérables production at the Kennedy Center plan to sit out of the show that night.

Ummm actually no you don't have to applaud him for **** while he stands on the sidelines and he oversees the cancelation of LGBT events held at the Kennedy Center. Please use your brain.
