I wish they did the casting rumors back in the 2012 revival. After Ricky Martin. There was a lot of talk about Enrique Iglesias and lady gaga. As well as Antonio banderes and I can’t remember the other woman. I wish thru would explore Enrique and gaga I find that casting thrilling
Considering the Ricky Martin revival didn't do so well, do we really think another revival 12 years later will fair any better?
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

”In three other upcoming musical revivals — “Evita,” “Camelot” and “Here Lies Love” — the damage is done by people with real power. Their harm is political, epochal, even as the songs they sing, encouraging empathy that may not otherwise be earned, invite us to give them a pass.“
I'm still scarred by the 2005 revival ... though it's been a minute and I probably should get over it. Love him or hate him, it certainly seems to have altered the career path of David Leveaux ...

What production of "Evita" in 2005 was directed by David Leveaux? Regardless of whatever production you're referring to, Leveaux's "career path" was doing just fine before and after.

The West End revival was in 2006 directed by Michael Grandage. I saw the Broadway version in 2012 and I don’t remember anything particularly notable about the staging, it seemed pretty straightforward. While Evita wasn’t a hit in London, Grandage did quite well for himself in the years since, going on to win the Tony for Direction of a Play in 2010 for Red (which I guess helped secure Evita’s remount in New York).
ETA: I got curious about what David Leveaux has been up to recently, and I saw he’s billed as a “creative consultant” on Once Upon A One More Time, which seems not really in his wheelhouse? But who knows. I just found that interesting.

I saw it the night the set jammed and stopped the show cold during the transition into Hello, Buenos Aires. Talk about a major buzz kill. There was nothing else memorable about that staging, other than Elena Roger being a bit of a letdown.
The Grandage-directed revival was EXTREMELY literal (as is most of Grandage's work).
The original Hal Prince production was much more conceptual.
EVITA is one of my favorite shows, and I enjoyed the City Center production, although I will admit I was not a huge fan of the two Evas. That being said, I will never turn my nose up at any chance to have this show back on Broadway.

Lea Michele confirmed on a podcast sometime a year ago that she had been offered and accepted the role for Elena Roger's replacement, but last minute changes to the Glee filming schedule prevented her from actually playing the role on Broadway.
They/them.

That is a brilliant casting idea! I'm afraid he's too big/busy these days to commit to the A.R.T. production and potential Broadway run, but I would love to see it. I think he's one of the most talented and charismatic young actors on the scene.

I have a feeling we are gonna get big names as the leads for the A.R.T run

People forget that the 2006 West End revival was a major critical hit (even if it didn't do as well as it should have commercially - there was a lot of competition that year in London for musicals, so the timing wasn't quite right) and had a major buzz in theatre circles. Even Riedel reported that Broadway was on the cards once the reviews came out, because at that time, those were the best reviews either ALW or Tim Rice had ever received in their careers. And regardless of what happened in New York, Elena Roger was sensational in that particular production.
I saw the Broadway revival as well and understand the complaints. 6 years took its toll, voices were shot, things became mechanical, casting was a bit weird, and it was all a bit muted. It's a shame the transfer didn't happen straight away with all of the buzz behind the London production, but the Broadway producers were insistent it could only sell with a big name so they were waiting all that time for Ricky Martin to become available.
