EXCLUSIVE: Wicked’s Cynthia Erivo will play Bram Stoker’s demonic vampire and 22 other roles in Dracula, a one-woman theatrical extravaganza set for next year in London’s West End, from the creatives and producers behind Sarah Snook’s Broadway and London triumph The Picture of Dorian Gray.
Stoker’s gothic shocker explores the dark corners of Victorian-age sexuality, fear and desire. The tale, first published in 1897, is both alluring and horrifying, full of terrifying and dreamlike imagery.

After watching Erivo play multiple parts on Poker Face last week, I'm so down for this. She has undeniable charisma and versatility.

While I think Erivo is wonderful, and after having seen "Dorian Gray" (I admired it more than loved it), I think I will pass unless the prices are reasonable. I am expecting it to be very expensive. So, we will see.
But, it sounds like DG redux.

Just watched this, and I actually feel differently. I felt it came across as a bit amateurish.

They say you can kill a vampire by putting a wooden stake through their heart. I guess thst means Cynthia will lasta long while...since no one can find her heart."
I donno, sounds like you worked pretty hard for that one.

OMG...just...get over it.
Moving on. These run dates are interesting, especially smack in the middle of awards season where WICKED: FOR GOOD will most certainly be front and center, necessitating Erivo's involvement in promotion and appearances. I wonder if they'll have a star standby or be dark briefly.
By the time the play goes into rehearsals in January, the movie will have been out for more than a month and we’ll have had a year & a half of press for Wicked.
If she doesn’t attend the Golden Globes or Critics Choice, it won’t be the end of the world.
I’m sure the schedule and her contract allows for some 5-day workweeks in Feb/March in the event that she needs to be at a big awards show like the Oscars or Baftas.

If you're gonna get burned, it's nice to be burned by the best.

Vampires don't go out during the day. Most of these awards shows are held in LA, and start at 4 or 5 Pacific Time.
I’m sure the standby will go on or they will be dark
Cynthia miss a red carpet or an event …? Come onnnnn
Just saw a picture in the link of this Australian production. A man, dressed in black, is holding a camera in front of the actress. If I see one more video or camera or projection on the stage, I’m gonna spit up.
When I saw DG a few weeks ago I said to my friend how it’s really a remarkable technical achievement and how I hope nobody else ever does anything like it since that feels like the best you can ever get with cameras on stage (a fad I’ve long been over, anyways) so of course someone is doing what looks like the exact same thing, almost immediately.

Better get a bib because I highly doubt this approach is going to disappear anytime soon.

When I saw Dorian Gray I felt Sarah Snook was obviously doing remarkable work (and I almost never like 1 person plays 20 parts shows) but felt "the show" was watching a TikTok video for two hours and drove me crazy. Trying not to prejudge this but this "throw a filter and just watch a screen" isn't for me. I don't understand what is essentially watching a movie in live theatre.

The thing is you need a really charismatic and captivating that Snook gives. Not saying Erivo isn’t capable of doing something similar, but the cameras can’t be the thing, it still has to be the performance leading the way. I know some people lost that with DG because of the screens, but I felt super connected to Snook both times I saw it
Seems like the worst possible month to be doing it with her schedule.

What happened, dear? She wouldn't take a selfie with you at the stage door?
