We both started a thread at the same time, lol.
I was told today that it will air in the Fall, so like most prerecorded LIVE shows, they're gonna take their sweet-ass time with it.

Glad to hear it, because it's always good to have more professional recordings. Though it begs the question, why didn't we get King and I?
I'm so happy more people will get to experience this beautiful production.

I'm so happy to hear this news! If there were ever a production that would benefit from being preserved like this, it's this one.

Figures.
"Though it begs the question, why didn't we get King and I?"
Yeah. I wonder why.
We got South Pacific. We get their concerts, like Show Boat. It's not as if there is a conspiracy to shove aside classic work in favor of things like Falsettos.
I'm very glad, but it's always bittersweet with Live From Lincoln Center. Will the contracts for these shows ever be updated from the dark ages so that they can be properly released and legally available in the long term?

I didn't say there was a conspiracy, I was just wondering.

It is commercial-free in HD, and most people have sorted out how to get content from DVRs onto their PCs, so... not a major concern. You do have to DIY it, though, since the Internet pirates don't seem too concerned about capping Live from Lincoln Center or Great Performances.

You still have three weeks to see it actually LIVE.
What a wonderful holiday gift.
Yeah, next holiday. lol

Oh, I wasn't responding to you. I was responding to the poster who likes to suggest there is some horrible cabal of sneering elitists who like to foist musicals like Falsettos on the unsuspecting public.

Unfortunately, I don't have the luxury to see it before it closes.

This is so amazing. The show is brilliant, and the entire cast especially Christian and Brandon, are just phenomenal. Im very glad more people get to see this lovely show.
People complaining about having to wait a bit? It's an incredible Broadway show, with the best theater actors in the world, being aired for free on a station everyone gets. "Four Jews in a Room Bitching" comes to mind. HAHA. Appreciate it, because they didn't have to do this.

We've speculated this before - I think it's a good bet that it was probably because they wanted to have TK&I national tour.

The King and I wasn't filmed because the closing date was announced rather abruptly and they didn't have time to get everything together.
